Monfils does it in straight sets. Magical performance, Federer just had no answer. He was hitting many esp backhands to short around the service line but Monfils just out played him as he can do for about 2hrs... The match took 1:46:)
Switzerland 1, France 1

That's a surprise result - perhaps Federer really did injure his back playing

Most players are playing/managing one injury or another a lot of the time. He played pretty well.
Monfils has it in him to play blindingly good tennis but he can blow cold more often than not, rather than hot. Today it was all hot. Nothing Federer could do. There was a lot of good play and whilst Federer served pretty well Monfils served excellently.

Great doubles match. The Swiss pairing of Roger and Stan showing the French pairing of Benneteau and Gasquet the way home. Straight sets 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. Nice doubles tennis.
The Swiss have the edge, 2 matches to 1 overall.
Tomorrows singles will decide it. Most likely - Federer vs Tsonga, Wawrinka vs Monfils.
What with this and F1 the new skirting board is going to have to wait...
News flash - Tsonga is said to have an elbow injury so Benneteau or Gasquet playing...

Yeah. Straight sets win. Monfils was the only Frenchy who really seemed up for it, all out! - Had one eye on this online and the other on the F1 Nice for Fed to get that last title he was missing. Wawrinka and Federer are the currently the best Davis cup team, if they both can play, as they can play. The boys on Tennis Warehouse are all saying Tsonga folded mentally... Would have been nice to have the 5th match but that's the way the cookie crumbles... So 3-1 to the Swiss. Mirka was no where to be seen So tennis is over for the year Now I can focus on all the motorsport I have recorded and not watched / avoided the results of course

Tim Henman pretty much monstered Rodick in the match I saw! Really? I've never even heard of that event. Hard to believe Henman beating Roddick.

Henman was good. A fine player. Good enough for several grand slam semis and had it not rained that time against Ivanisevic then the Wimbledon final... Some players play better on the masters tour, without the pressure of the world ATP on their shoulders. I expect some of it will be on YouTube soon:)
After a bit of searching: Hennan leads 3-2. I think that is ATP matches...

No current tennis on but I have watched a couple of classic finals that may have eluded me or not - can't remember, or who won them so it's fun. First I watched Wilander beat Lendl in that US open final in 1988. Wilander uses every trick in the book and simply outlasts Lendl grinding him down... Then Agassi VS Sampras from 1995 - not finished that one yet. Then Evert VS Navratilova. Evert was a great player. As for myself. I have bought a few new racquets - culminating in 4 that are all noted for being very arm friendly. 3 have systems such as moving sand weights / shock absorbing throats and handles and are from Pro Kennex and Volkl (you know you are a certain tennis playing age when you are googling Pro Kennex and Volkl:) The 4th has a very low stiffness rating. All have the right Heft ~350+ grams strung, 330+ swing weight and are around 10 points (10 eighths of an inch head light in balance). I've only played with the Pro Kennex Ki Q tour so far. I started out with it on Multifilament strings but got some Babolat VS team BT7 nat gut (nothing but the very, very best - made from 7 strands of cow intestine) and could not resist stringing it up. You have to be careful stringing it - as it can kink really easily and can burn the mains when you pull the crosses, slowly does it! It and I played beautifully once we'd got to know each other and with the shock system and the gentleness, rebound power and touch of nat gut (nothing else comes close), I can see my niggling arm problems completely going away in the near future. Here's a pic of it strung up. Helps to wax the string bed after each outing too! Avoid the pouring rain - Another stick will be strung up with Multifilament for wet weather use. I should get the Volkl C10 Pro tomorrow and a Volkl Organix 10 after Xmas. A Pro Kennex Heritage Type C Redondo (don't you just love the names - almost as daft as Hifi!) any day now too. Can never have enough tennis racquets!!!

Got the other racquets and very nice they are too. I look forward to hitting with them over the break and well into next year. Much to try and test and customise... Here are the 4 I went for. 2 strung in all nat gut and 2 strung in weather proof multi filament.

Yeah was going to play yesterday pm but relatives stayed a little longer than planned and then it rained! Hope to be out hitting with the new Volkl today at some point and there's always club doubles (yawn) tomorrow.

Bit of live tennis on at the moment from Abu Dhabi. 6 of the top players have a sort of friendly shoot out. But of course it's competitive...
Semi finals are Nadal VS Murray. Djokovik VS Wawrinks.
Nadal back from appendix op, Murray trying to rebuild after the 6-0, 6-1 against Fed in the ATP finals last year...

Murray played well. The scoreline of 6-2, 6-0 to Murray is a bit misleading as Nadal had MANY break point chances.
Murray speed, FH and BH were great today. Serve needs work still:)
Wawr and Djok up in 10 mins:)

Djokovic just too good for Wawrinka. He picked up, right where he left off - stunning control and safe pair of hands.
Gotta go with Djokovic against Murray tomorrow.
Nadal plays Wawrinka - will be interesting. Some are saying Nadal is finished as far as Grand Slams (perhaps bar the French) are concerned. Time will tell...

Djok pulled out of the final with a Fever / flu! Murray winner by default.
Nadal beat Wawrinka close at first but then Nadal just pulled better form.
Proper Tour tennis is back for 2015. ATP and WTA Brisbane kicked off yesterday (their time). Sam Stosur already out. She was 5-1 up in the 3rd and just choked! WTA Auckand and ATP Chennia tomorrow.
More tennis than even I eat!

Konta and Murray in the semis are something to celebrate. Both matches looked tough and Konta has really outplayed herself.

Yes indeed. Didn't pan out for Konta against Kerber, who went on to win the tournament of course.
Nice win for her. Another winner against Serena. More belief she is beatable if you play her right, and Kerber - a renewed Kerber did just that!
Andy still has a shot, I'll be glued to it at 8am tomorrow but it will be very tough. Djokovic is flying high at the moment! Jamie Murray & partner won the men's doubles championship! Scotland also won the wheelchair champ too!
