Indeed, it's very annoying. I'm just making sure not to uninstall it from my phone. Perhaps they'll have a change of heart at some point?

Here's hoping. I will have to install Tapatalk on Marie's Lenovo Yoga with Android OS and try to strangle Tapatalk notifications;) It's rubbing salt in when websites have banners saying it would be faster on Tapatalk, and can take you to an empty Store

Back in the world of Windows 10, on my new PC with a factory install of 1607
Yet again I have sound break up issues. Googling suggests this is a widespread problem. I have checked the drivers are up to date. It seems to apply to both the PC sound card (the jack plug on the laptop) and the Kensington docking station. I haven't rebooted this time, but that probably fixes it temporarily. Experience with Windows 7 doing the same thing suggest it gets worse, and a reboot fixes it for an ever decreasing period
I haven't set aside time to investigate properly. I'll be buying an apple at this rate
Any ideas?

1607 is old now. Update it to 1703 (Creator's Edition) as it has many performance efficiencies that may help.
Just go to Settings | Update and Microsoft provide a link to update the OS.

Thanks Martin
I tried the updates and had a big list of failed ones. I think these were while I was in the UK and Canada. I cleared everything down, rebooted a couple of times, and the updates installed overnight. Rebooting it fixed the sound (it always does for a while). Prior to that, based on google searches, I experimented with conflicts with the network drivers, and sure enough, if I disable the network card and wifi interface the sound is "healed"
However, I am still on 1607. A little note came up asking if I would like "creators edition" and promising to notify me when it is ready
Any thoughts?

Sorted. I am on 1703
This was the version I upgraded to from Windows 7 on the other laptop, so I have high hopes

Good stuff. 1703 seems generally fast and stable.
You are still in the hands of vendors somewhat for driver quality, though.

Not an unmitigated success I have to say. Having encountered problems, I now find a google search tells me Microsoft recommend not installing yet as it is too flaky - hence the "wait for us to advise you"
The specific problem I encountered was my core software not finding a printer, so I was unable to print anything. Although my existing printers are working and used by other programs, when windows searches for a printer it is unable to find it. I was on the verge of winding back to a previous build. However, I manually installed a printer on another port, and although that printer doesnt work, it somehow lets the core software (Digita Integrated Accounts Suite) "see" all the printers, including the one I wanted it to use.
If I catch up enough to "fiddle", I may wind back and take the "contact support" option.

This one is getting Exchange 2016 ready to migrate our mail system from Exchange 2013. Lots and lots of lovely setting up and mailbox migrations to do. I finished migrating us to Exchange Server 2016 today. I need to leave the old server running for a week while all the Outlook clients update their settings as teachers get back from holidays, then I can decommission it. There are so many issues and pitfalls awaiting anyone setting up e-mail these days, apart from the actual migration and ensuring that you are not a spam relay. Such things as an extended validation certificate, e-mail signatures, auto-responder, anti-virus, SPF, DMARC and DKIM signing to reassure the receiving end that we are legitimate, new protocol for Outlook clients, Active Directory photos etc. Not to mention ever increasing demand for space from users sending hi-res photos. Ah well, it keeps me in work

Does anyone with a W10 phone use Hello to unlock their phone?

I don't most of the time as my 950 doesn't recognise my irises reliably with my glasses on. With them off, it works fine. The facial recognition of my Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, is dead reliable and unlocks any time I am in view.

I am not having much luck with mine at the moment. I'll try setting it up again to see. My problem is that my eye lids hang quite low..

Try holding the phone up to make your eyes open fully, then program it to recognize you.

My success rate is improving . Only one failure all day. I need to look for a display dock and see what it's all about.

I wish it used the same facial recognition that the Surface does. That is so good that I simply never login any more, I just look at it and it unlocks. As soon as I leave the desk for 5 minutes it locks again.

The 950XL does seem to be an outstanding phone, but the W10 mobile OS does have two problems in the email section that makes it a bit of a mess to use when compared to the W8.1 version. The two problems are key to the proper operation of emails that are downloaded from a server. The W10 OS does not synch its list of emails with that of the server correctly. So any emails that were deleted from the server via a PC will still show up on the 950XL after the next synch. The next problem is that W10 mobile does not cc back to me any emails that I reply to automatically. I have to manually cc each one to myself. This problem was first introduced by Nokia into their 808 after updating Symbian. It was OK on the previous phone, the N97. The problem got corrected in W8 for the Nokia 1020. But it is now back on the 950XL. I hope it gets corrected on the Surface phone, because it is a key purchasing decision for me.
