YMMV, as they say.

I am not attached to apps, so for me their availability is a non-issue. The only thing I am interested in is that I can send and receive phone calls and emails, and take pics. In the case of emails I need a copy of my reply sent to my server. The Windows phone I got does all that. I don't use my phone to pay for anything.

Err, no, that's not what I'm saying. It all works and there's nothing I want for at all.
Don't get me wrong, Android is ok in my book if a little all over the place version-wise, but it doesn't particularly wow me. iPhones do nothing for me at all. Small, old tech and crap OS.

On that I agree, Android doesn't wow me either, I love my WP but it's sat in a drawer because of its limitations for my use. It's my preferred OS by far, but if it won't do what I want it's useless

Add to the good ones - Nmedium for Jriver control (better than Gizmo IMO), OneDrive and Skype.
Not so good, Facebook but the messenger app works fine and as Martin says Here drive is great. Better than android offerings I've compared it with. Word, excel, torch, Radio Sweden and a few others are all adequate if not Stella. On top of martins ones I don't use many more. Oh there is no racquet tune equivalent so I use a Kindle for that;)

I tried nMedium Steve and really didn't like it, looked like something Chad Valley would make, I love Gizmo, so it's all down to preference. Also Gizmo is a free app, I wouldn't pay for nMedium in fact I wouldn't use it over Gizmo even if it were free.

Don't think I paid for nMedium, if I did it was pennies and to have it on my phone which I always have on me is great. As you say, personal preference.

It's only $1.49, but as I didn't like it I never bought it after the free trial expired.

I thought I'd pass this on, as we were talking about Windows Live Mail being phased out a little while ago. I've switched to Outlook from Outlook Express and one thing that Express did simply but Outlook has no direct facility for it seems, is combining account inboxes. I've got five or six different email addresses and it was nice to have incoming mail from all of them in one easily accessible folder/inbox, but when I switched that wasn't there so after a little digging I found this solution. It's not exactly rocket science so don't be put off by the fact you may have to go a tiny bit further into Outlook that you might be used to, it's worth the effort.

You should be able to create a mailbox in Outlook and have multiple accounts all flow into the same inbox. I've never done it (since Exchange has those facilities directly) but I can see how it's done.

The way I did this is to just go to the original email account and set up forwarding and forward all other accounts to your Outlook account. Also if you manually set up a new Pop/IMAP account in Outlook you can point mail to a selected Outlook pst data file, which merges all mail Paul's method works fine too. As with most software there's normally more than one way to skin a cat. You just need to find it!

Thanks Stan. Will do. It's a small desktop with DVD drive. Well that was a bit of a hunt for the eject button on the DVD player. You need to do the updates for W7 and Office. I didn't check if it is set for auto update or not.

Was an odd one for sure. Thanks for all the work on that. Really appreciated, as well as the new Caiman components In both case I was really glad you did it and not me. I'd still be at it and may have never got all right
I will set that pc up and run separately while using this one until all ok.

For those of you on the Fast Track, v14361 has just come through for both W10 desktop and WM10 phone.
One really important feature is support for plug-ins for the Edge browser, as well as finally full UK English support for Cortana.

So fiddly and so many updates, I'm beginning to think I should have stuck with Vista.

Well, I liked XP, and I liked Vista even more.
BUT, after briefly trying W7, and now on W10 I would not go back.
XP is dead, and Vista is due to lose support soon. Do not underestimate the dangers of an old and unsupported operating system.
If you really hate Windows 7 then have you considered something like Ubuntu ? I quite like Ubuntu but it's no way (for me) as easy to use as W10, although it's easy if you only browse the internet. Ubuntu if FREE to use.
