A big thanks to everyone who turned up it was nice to meet a few new people to me and a special thanks has to go out to SpeedySteve. The horns have those deep I want to dive into the mids sound. To get the stereo image their was a sweet spot which I presume was the room. Those speakers are bloody heavy. Unfortunately I could not sit down on the chairs for long as found them hurting my back. The hall has a good bit of reverb to it. Here are some videos

Dear All,
I had planned to call in to the bake-off, even in the reduced form, while driving from Plymouth to Bracknell and back. However, I started a new temp A-level physics teaching job in a lovely independent school in North Devon. Always a lot of lesson planning when you start a new role and the commute from Plymouth is about 46 miles each way... last thing I wanted to do was drive to Bracknell!
Thank you to every one who brought kit. I am really curious about the horn speakers since I have zero experience. looking forward to videos etc if there are any more.
Cheers Sean

Have to say was great to catch up the group yesterday, plus the weather played fair as well. It’s been to long since we all caught up chaps, Mike & Andy the dynamic duo bless em always good to see rip the piss out of everyone favourite American whack job glad you guys are safe and well. Me old mucker John, a great muso and all-round decent bloke always entertaining and a musical journey when conversing with John. I only spoke to Chris briefly due to having to leave early, but you look well sir and relaxed. Said a brief hello to Steve (speedy) and showed appreciation for making a Herculean effort to bring his ENTIRE system to the event, a thoroughly well-deserved round of applause. Once again proving horns generate substantial room presence and effortless music making. Was good to finially put a face to a name Clive, although only a brief conversation, however its quite apparent that music brings together people from all walks and positions in life with common goal music. Would love to have chatted more but Anne had booked to see 'My old Ass' (quirkily but strangely enjoyable film) at 6.30pm in Gx so really had to depart.
Barrington popped up later in the day, another stalwart of bake off's and show, he made a comment which I feel is spot on on he offered this on his own accord " I trust goldsound reviews, as I know he is quite honest, so if he hates it, I know its proberbly for me" What an astute observation
Last but by no means least Joolz & our fabled leader and master of system exponant diagrams Martin did have a good talk to them, Joolz the epitome of understated relajado, another great muso and decent chap always have great conversations with Joolz as he really is thoroughly bloody nice bloke! Martin now the daily grind has finished looks fresh and invigorated, great to see you back Martin its been a while. While it may not have been the advertised event, it was well worth the effort imho. I did mention this to Chris and the others it had been 5 years since we last had a social gathering, we need to make this more regular even if its not a bake but a get to gether chaps! Big thank you to Martin and the chaps for putting this together, great to see the TAS spirit is very much alive and kicking

Martin, Love the way your side of the table is all neatness and serenity, my side, yeah well😂
4 ways and umpteen boxes creates a lot of cables - that's my excuse!
Big thank you for bringing your gear. I am now eyeing a Rendu Sig with envy.. I don't need all that pension pot money when I'm dead do I?😂

I find that a pension pot is much better spent while you're still alive.

All back in place. I took the SH50s apart and we carried the rear enclosures and horn pyramids (with drivers on) separately. Still 💪 Made a few upgrades to the cabling and an extra cab bolt at the bottom front. Tweeter amp and Raals have been banished. I am truly 4 way now. The well dialed in nearish field experience sounds great. If I were to ever do it again I'd want at least 3 subs for a room like that. Not to produce more bass per se, but to improve coverage, have them just tickling over until called for on the deep stuff and increase presence. But that would take a long while to dial in. Would also try a wider coverage horn, 60, 70 80 degrees? Def not my area of expertise PA. Now for the great autumn sell off. Pair of Raal lazy ribbon tweeters, Technics SP-10, FR64s tonearm, SPU Royal N, 12" Rega arm... The list goes on on.

That should fund a Signature Rendu Deluxe quite nicely. On the question of I2S versus S/PDIF, I didn't quite catch why you had given up on I2S since that is what the U18 does best?

Najda only receives native I2S. That's not I understand compatible with the outputs of things like Gustard etc - I2S over HDMI. I'd need a converter, who knows how good that would be? When I last looked into it, it seemed a bit hit and miss. So I've not gone any further. To be continued on my system blog thread..
