I love that Aurora, will have a listen to the album Infections of a Different Kind - Step 1. Reminds me of Oh Land. Aurora is something else live. She manage to be so much rock & roll, in her own very unique way. She is like from a separate universe... Nothing shears me up more than that short concert. I will check out Oh Land! I have never heard of them...

Hey Tobias You have jumped in. And really enjoying yourself too! My system has changed markedly in the last five years. Pretty much coincides with TAS discussions. I bought switches and had their clocks upgraded. Not sure anyone else here went that route. But the end result will be similar; very satisfied with the results. For my major power upgrade, I'm seriously saving for a Puritan PSM156. Consider some Black Ravioli pads and big pads under your gear. I was sceptical, but now have 28 of them (and plan to get more after the Puritan purchase). I´m actually over the top enthusiastic about this hobby now, in an almost childish way . Could not, in my wildest fantasy, believe how satisfying it could be to update things that "can´t make a difference...". Thanks for sharing, I have a long way to go and so much to improve and learn!

Be aware the improvements are likely to continue as everything beds in I guess this must be a question that has been debated to death already...but why does the "bedding in" always seem to go in an improvement direction, or doesn´t it? I must admit that I have followed threads here where it actually doesn´t...like the MartinT´s AOG cables i believe it was(?), but in general it seems that it "always" get better with time.

In general, burning-in seems to improve sound quality. In one particular case for me, the Finisar AOC, things went backwards. However, using another sample did improve sound over a long burn-in.
I have learned to have patience, especially with clock cables and grounding boxes. It can take an age for burn-in to yield rewards, so be patient. Use the Tara Labs burn-in signal on repeat and the volume set low to accelerate burn-in over several days or weeks.
Generally, when I install a new component (even disturbing a cable counts), I give the system a week of Tara overnight. More gives more.

Coincidentally I was playing CDs today and was surprised and impressed with the sound quality More detail : These were albums being added to my playlist so my recent experience was on the kitchen system Nevertheless it was a very pleasant surprise. Big system settling in a bit more ... ?

Last evening and this morning I have re-listened to many of my favorite live Youtube performances, that I have watched many many times. My new (used) power cable brought out so much of the ambient "bad" live sounds/noises from these Youtube performances that just wasn´t there before. Now I suddenly hear those, sort of unwanted (if you understand what I mean), reverb/microphonic/audio equipment sounds that is part of the live performance, that makes it so much more alive! My wife, who is not very interested (she claims...even if she gets frustrated if she can´t find the remote to turn on the stereo... ) sat glued and mesmerized with the performances, and couldn´t stop watching. For some reason, I wasn´t expecting the power cable to add details (looking more into the recordings) but that was the very obvious thing that happened. (for some reason I expected it to maybe be more punchy in the base...) To give three examples of my personal favorite live performances, that I watched over and over again. The funny thing is that I don´t care much about any of these artists, when listening to music only... There is just something about visual performances, sometimes, that add some magic to it. Here’s a few of my favourite YouTube performances if you’d like to listen to them.

I just ordered a Wifi extender (cheap one) after having read up on Head-fi. (I actually need one anyway) The idea is then to physically decouple my noisy sheep router, by sending wifi to the extender, as a first step. In addition I now also have this Converter Rj45 Optic Transceiver and this CISCO SFP-10G-AOC2M in my shopping cart. But I have not yet been brave enough to buy... That will complement my already existing isolating switch. Both IFI Ipower X is also something I have already. The idea is then: Sheep noisy Router->sheep Wifi Extender->CAT8->Netgear gs105e (Ipower X)->Optic converter/trasceiver (Ipower X)->AOC2M->Streamer/Dac. Does that makes sense?

Yes - do you yet know what the streamer will take? Direct optical, or another converter? Hmm, I thought that converter/transceiver pair meant that it ended with ethernet cable again, into the streamer? (which I then forgot in my illustration) Or have I misunderstood, or simplify it? My streamer only receives stream via RJ45 I believe. So, it should be like this then instead, which feel a bit crazy, to say the least... (then I actually need yet another power supply also...?) Sheep noisy Router->sheep Wifi Extender->CAT8->Netgear gs105e (Ipower X)->CAT8->Optic converter/transceiver (Ipower X)->AOC2M->Optic converter/transceiver (Ipower X)->CAT8->Streamer/Dac.

My Sonore streamer has an optical cage built-in. So no conversion back to ethernet.

Reason for going this route: Having the worlds most overengineered Yamaha WCX-50 digital frontend...
Reason for skipping it: Having the most overengineered signature, before even getting started...

The Ediscreation Fiber Box ii looked interesting. Although pricey, it puts everything in one box.

For the Cisco AOC you need an LC media converter, the one you’ve linked to is an SC type. This is what I use, I’m not saying it’s the best but it works. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078RGPRH1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Wi-Fi Range Extender now implemented this morning (tp-link TL-WA850RE), to physically isolate the ethernet cable into my switch from the ethernet source/router. I also moved the Wi-FI extender away from the the same power line, as my rig. (My router was earlier on the same power line) I had some password related issues... so the operation took me longer than expected. I therefore don´t want to make any clear statement about blacker background or more details/resolution, even if I believe that was the outcome .

Well, now I am actually certain that it made a clear difference in lowering the noise floor even more.
I´ve been glued in the chair listening to Kind of Blue and The Songs of Bacharach & Costello, just because I don´t want to stop enjoying the music. I count that as the poof...

Was your ethernet cable previously non-isolated, i.e. exited a router that itself came from a cable/phone broadband service?
