A good standard LPS for router (Mobile or cable newtwork distribution) is a positive step forward especially if you obtain your music via your IP. Just putting the finishing touches on one from agood friend of mine who is an American airman stationed here in the UK, its a late Christmas gift for him as he has been extremely helpful this year, top bloke. Although it might be touch overkill for his set up, but then again his an American
Uses a 300Va 120V core dual secondaries (I know he will be adding something else in that area around April) so just covering the bases.
That sounds like a great present and a very powerful power supply.

That sounds like a great present and a very powerful power supply. He's a great chap, but also its incredibly quiet around 4-6uV of ripple noise @ 9Vdc 4 amps at point of use of the device its powering. Its a combination of various factors that create a quality power supply. I'm a bit predantic in that respect.

It’s interesting how much a bad power supply can affect other components in the system, not just the one it’s powering.

Audio is imho 90% power dependant Matt, not just a/c but DC power rails, ground references, veer placement, supply rail routing etc.
Meant to ask have you installed much Solar power yet?

I did a course on solar years ago, but only ever did the occasional solar job until during this summer when we started doing a few a week sub contracting for another crowd. It was great experience, but really hard work having to lift 50kg batteries into peoples lofts and work in hot, dark confined spaces for what sometimes ended up being 12 hour days. We stopped doing them as it wasn’t worth it financially.

We stopped doing them as it wasn’t worth it financially. Funny thing that, for business here its pretty stable, for domestic its now to the point where payback is 15 years+ Average hone around 9-12K

I’d say the company we were doing the work for was making a fortune, but we were getting paid per job and expected to complete them in anywhere from half a day to 2 days, depending on the size of the install.

The last install I worled on was a 24Kw for wealthy farmer, he used some of this for keeping the throughbreds warm and toasty via Quartz heaters, the rest for the house and dump back in the grid. Audio was lousy with it though in fairness.

I’d be put off installing it in my own place due to lack of sun here in Ireland. If I had the space, a wind turbine might be better, possibly alongside solar. Expensive though.
The biggest we did was 15kw. That was with 3 x 5kw batteries.

Wind Turbine imho is btter, though in conjunction with SP and with battery tech now at last starting to get its arse into gear there is hope, however you are still left with the inverter efficency and noise issues imho.
We used three of these, so they will never get stressed in normal operation.
You can obtain the same power density factor for less, however reliability and performnace were key factors in choosing thes storage devices

We were installing these when people were adding batteries www.estg.eu/en-gb/huawei-luna2000-15kw-battery-system/If they were just using an inverter, we used Solus Inverters.

All finished now Matt & tested to 5 amps peak and 3 amp constant looking good.

Looks good, are the 2 brown cylinders capacitors? And is that sound deadening mat you’ve lined it with?

I do hope you have had a bit of fun this Xmas and haven't been too busy with building audio esoterica old chap!

The zero zone super capacitor linear power supply is working a treat powering my Router. I’m noticing more high frequency extension, reverb and air. Intricate rhythms and melodies have more inner detail.

Mine's been on constantly for a while now
Assuming it beds itself in...
Will test quality next year - quite soon !

Hello Joolz, yes both Anne & myself have had an enjoyable and much need break, batteries have been recharged and virtual zero alcohol been consumed, what about yourselves?

I have four of them and they are good items
