Sorry to ask after all the time I have been here but why use Bubble player ? Is that the recommended controller for Rendu items ? I used the software on a phone many years ago but did not find it to be any advantage either sound quality wise or function over Logitech Media Server using Material Skin GUI. I tried LMS a while ago and found it not nearly as good for control or sound quality as Bubble, which is a very good DLNA controller. For me, Bubble is perfect for the Rendu.

Okay Martin those seem to be your and others findings , tried it myself and sounded no different in my system sound quality wise than LMS and as this is the backbone of my network and I am happy with what it does will just continue to read about your and others comments .

No problem, I hadn't heard of it until MartinT mentioned it Bubble is an app running on Android that retrieves music from Qobuz and others and plays it Arguable but it seems Bubble also gives better sound quality

Recorded quality is indeed variable, but what I'm finding (don't know if you agree) is that everything, even quite dodgy sounding albums (e.g. ELP - Brain Salad Surgery) are more rewarding to listen to. Haven't got to that yet So much going on with all the changes and 'issues' I've had I can believe it though and I know all albums won't be perfect for one reason or another Still playing mostly new to me albums from artists I know and loving it

As there's no Qobuz connect (yet, or never will be) you have to use Bubble Upnp or mConnect. Sonore (Ultrarendu etc) actually recommend mConnect on their website but both work fine sound wise. UI preferences aside and speed of use seems to vary across the renderers... It all seems a stop gap solution to bridge the systems, to me - not joined up at all. Spotify connect works with Rendu but is not high enough quality to satisfy.

Distracting and interrupting myself I stayed with
Unkle and my Bubble playlist
Rendu has been on solidly since early yesterday plus a few hours late Thursday and Friday, not that long, not 48 hours
Sound quality has taken a step up since then as the albums I played only yesterday are sounding so good

Mine is still getting better, Mike. The presentation is unfolding in ways that are difficult to describe, but I'm hardly paying attention as the music is so involving.

Never tried Quobuz.

julesd68, Spotify sounds decent until you directly compare it with Qobuz, and then you can hear all that the compression loses in real detail, soundstage, dynamics and all the other attributes of hi-res. Once you attune to it, there is really no going back. You can always do a trial and see what you think?

Spotify sounds okay but as Martin says it's lacking when you compare to Qobuz in sound quality. It's saving grace was how good the recommendations are. It was the only reason why I stayed with it for so long.

Ok chaps understood. I have to sort out other elements of my system before fully getting online again then can look at a Quobuz trial if it can work for the rest of the family.

We pay for Netflix. One of my daughters pays for Spotify Family.
I'll front up for Qobuz when I rejoin.

Ok chaps understood. I have to sort out other elements of my system before fully getting online again then can look at a Quobuz trial if it can work for the rest of the family. I can tell you now Jules, if you're including the rest of the family in using Qobuz instead of Spotify, it won't work. I'll eat my hat and yours if you can convince them all it's a better bet. If it's just you then you have a much better chance of staying the course
I've had extended use of Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz. Personally I prefer the Qobuz catalogue and their overall ideology, but until they launch Connect it's just too clumsy for me using it with the WiiM Pro. IMO the best user interface is Tidal's as it's minimal and business like with a lot less bling than Spotify. But Spotify, as others have pointed out is by far the best for discovery.
Spotify's compatibility is hard to beat as it works with everything, Connect works perfectly and there is a Linux app too, so it works great on my PC, phone, tablet and WiiM Pro. But I hate all the bling and I won't pay 12 quid for a lossy service, so it's Tidal for now. I don't mind that so much now they've phased out the MQA con-job, reduced their price to £10.99 and bundled it all in together, so HighRes and redbook for the same money.
So good luck old bean!

I have had Tidal for about two months now and have struggled to get to grips with it . However I am now starting to look at some of the dynamic mixes they offer for me and play just certain tracks out of them then add in a few of my own that I want to hear . I think they use a learning software as the Mix offered are starting to get a little bit more varied which is how I like to listen rather than just single genre ones . The sound quality is good but I have to admit that the difference between CD and HiRes is not that much for me which may be either me being cloth eared or my system not up to the quality jump . Also if you use Spotify you can not use Spotify Connect with Innous units as the new GUI is not registered with Spotify .

Could only happen to me : Chapter 22
Noticed the Power Supply for the EtherRegen was running hot
Played around for a while trying to persuade it to cool down. No luck High 40s and into 50s so turned off overnight for safety
The EtherRegen is 37, hot but seems ok
Next issue - persuade the tablet to play after the PSU comes back on as odd things going on, same track repeated, track stops at the end, manual selection works but only one track at a time
Settled on reboot of the android tablet as that seemed to fix it Will try that again tomorrow

Is the power supply temperature you took on the outside of the case, or internally?

The sound quality is good but I have to admit that the difference between CD and HiRes is not that much for me What I have found after a few years of listening is that the recorded quality in terms of mic setup, mixing and mastering are far more important than the digital format, provided it's at least 16/44 (CD) level. Where hi-res pulls forward is if the recording is already good then there is more goodness in evidence in hi-res formats where the spuriae are pushed further up away from the audio band. To my ears, there is a general openness to the soundstage and finer treble detail, such as brushed cymbal work, in the higher res formats.

Where do you put your best power supply ? Power supply swap to try and fix the very hot Weiliang PSU feeding EtherRegen Mavis Staples, Eyes on the prize. Long time since on the main system Played. Sounds ok, expected slightly better Turn off Weiliang feeding Etherregen and Zero Zone feeding TP Link router Disconnect Move Weiliang, connect to router, turn on Check I have interweb - I do ! That in itself is a victory Connect ZZ to ER, turn on Wait for it to come up and reboot tablet while happening Play track Internal logic said the SQ would dip a bit. Odd, I've never been wrong before Actually the opposite, nicer more flowing sound, subtle but there Back to my Bubble playlist and Neil Cowley played yesterday Seems clearer and more bass, volume is up, but I think my ears tell the truth Detail : Before The Weiliang sits on smaller, stuck on Black Ravioli pads, Coherent 6D mains cable fed from Audio Magic conditioner, 1 Granite coaster on top ZZ on its own feet, so room for improvement there, fed by cheapo US style cable fed from Audio Magic conditioner, ditto, 4 Granite coasters on top Both use Aliexpress DC cables to feed power on After Weiliang still on Black Ravioli pads, now fed by cheapo US style cable fed from Audio Magic conditioner, Granite coaster ZZ on its own feet, now Coherent 6D mains cable being fed from Audio Magic conditioner, still 4 Granite coasters You make your own luck
