Following HD Music & Test recommendation and prompted by petea with YouTube video, watching even more YouTube clips I went mad and decided to go for a Bluesound NODE N130 Hi-Res Music Streamer - Black obviously This will be my tale, hopefully of intuitive interface, ease of use and delight at sound quality Simply Sound and Vision, authorised reseller of Bluesound offer a 2-year warranty listenoutloud on Ebay List price £549, however "This item has previously been used for a short time as a demonstration model. It has been fully tested and is in perfect working order and superb quality unit. The item comes in its original box, with all the accessories and comes with a two-year warranty" £475 sounds good to me so I bought one last night. Ebay told me "Your order's in" Come this morning no other confirmation so I contacted SSaV who had not seen the order Simon suggested another order which I agreed to as long as I only pay for and receive the one Order seems to be ok now My credit card company seem favourite for stopping that, although Ebay may have helped This week should see the magic box arrive

Well done, Mike. Remember you will need actual streaming subscriptions (Spotify, Qobuz etc.) to get it going. I don't think you have any files, do you?

"Hello. Tech support." Sorry, just practising. Not that I know anything about them. I did have a the earlier cheaper Bluesound Node (£399 rrp) for a while, but wasn't keen. It had, what I described as, a "boxy" sound. Mind you, it still managed "Best streamer up to £600" and 5 stars on What Hi*Fi on release. Good luck on the adventure, Mike.

You should be able to Airplay to it from your wife's iPad at the very least.

The Bluesound arrived Unboxing I found this 'demo' model was shrink wrapped
Plugged in and almost immediately had Bluetooth working - result
Connecting into the rest of the system was a battle Downloaded the Bluesound app onto the laptop as my preferred tool After rebooting many times, uninstalling reinstalling I still found the app was "Looking for device" (or similar) Took a very long time to not connect
Sounds like my usual with technology so left it for the day and asked the sub conscious to work on the problem
Option 1 Download onto my Android phone Verrrrry long time looking for device, left it going Eventually, half an hour, an hour ? Connected after entering password 3 or 4 times - that could be my fault Next Updating Shown on phone. Left it running for around half an hour to an hour, wasn't timing it
Came back working
With that I decided to try the laptop again That now works and played Paradise Radio
Unforch I can't seem to get Bluetooth back as well
Some way to go exploring this and glad to say I'm in no rush
Root of the problem could be the router, me, Bluesound For anyone getting one of these working be prepared for very long times to set up

Well done Mike If trying to set up BT on the node, you will need to go back to your settings on your phone and pair. Not sure why you had the issues when I tried when demoing speakers; I found this straightforward

After correcting myself and the kit, multiple off/on, reboots still no BT
Over to subconcious and back later or tomorrow

Thanks John I had BT working fine before Bluesound connected to the router Now the laptop plays through its own speakers even though connected to BT

I presume connecting through the node so this should display as your BT device if using something like Spotify Can be hard to know what going on, best to check everything in a systematic way. If I have issues, its usually because I have done something silly and takes a while to discover what this is.

Another black piece of kit Mike. That alone makes it a worthwhile purchase.
I had problems setting up my (used) Pro-Ject streamer. Couldn't connect it to wifi, and couldn't see it.
Countless resets, loaded software update etc. Tried it, left it, came back to it, went through the settings, reread the manual, searched Google, tried it again, left it. After another play with it a few days later, it worked. I think it was as simple as my phone and the streamer were on different wifi networks.
Keep going with it.

Last night I wondered if naming the Bluesound could have changed Bluetooth's opinion Deleted all Bluetooth Turned BS and laptop off Searched again for BT. Searching....... too long, sleep is more important than playing silly buggers Bluesound off. Laptop to sleep Early this morning I decided to start the BT search off, leave it working for as long as it took Seconds I'm now connected again Bloody computers Much like brettj above Sound on Trance is surprisingly good via laptop and BT Skip the first track ! music.youtube.com/watch?v=gzM8IdOwwTg&list=OLAK5uy_nVez0hZCLVVbKsYgViPbYGBhJdijaprCU

You know I have never taken more than 10 minutes max to set up one of these, download the app, plug BN into the RJ45 socket, switch on wait for fancy guy circle of light to do its routine, green bar on and press play hey presto music.

You start out knowing what you are doing.
The difference between you and me is my problems are a problem and I have to work out what is going on and what to do You already know. My system would have taken you close to the full 10 minutes
I also did it with wifi, probably a mistake and also wanted BT working. Naming the BS was another mistake. As they seemed so keen I thought it could be an advantage later on
Another thing I don't like fiddling around with kit. Turn on, play music is what I want
