Whole new world for me with more layers than I thought
I probably have the broad outline now. Working out my own methods to follow and then maybe amend

Have I paid my dues, at least for the time being ? MartinT insisted the UpTone EtherREGENwas a must for my system as it is in his. Order placed late Friday. Martin Smith emailed Saturday to say I would have it on Monday He lied Royal Mail delivered it today, Sunday ! After careful looking around and guidance from MartinT I assumed this would need cajoling to play music. So here we go. Playing Tarwater - Dwellers on the Threshold and enjoying it very much. Ok Zimmerman will do Power down Rendu, turn off power to the adaptor Connect EtherREGEN, connect power turn on Leave a couple of minutes and on with Rendu Couple of minutes - seems to be ready ! Music ! Smoother, even gentler than before, fuller - from cold and brand new I'll take this !

EtherRegen in for 17 hours, left on since then Could be my imagination... more bass, separation, solidified mid range and detail ? Back to the start of the Tarwater albums soon and confirmation or not Busy little, odd shaped box

Back to Tarwater albums on Qobuz as fresh in my mind and I can't leave them alone
This is the EtherRegen, ER on for only 24 hours More bass, width, detail
I'll run through Tarwater's albums and then a Streaming - CD comparison Similar to what I did with vinyl ahead to start and CD, caught up and overtook LPs

As promised All Tarwater albums on Qobuz played
Back to Best of Bent
Much closer. Had to swap back and forth a few times. CD just gets it from streaming after the change to streaming from the Rendu UPnP/AV setting and the addition of the Etherregen
Play them a few hours apart and I'm not sure I could tell

Still more things to do to bring the Rendu to the same accessories as the TAD

Had another weird one
Back to the music at the end of the day All looked fine and working except no music. Thermometer at the bottom of Now Playing ticking on DAC clicked when I pressed play or pause as it usually does No music
Bed time. Will check tomorrow First thing exactly the same
Quickest was a tablet reboot We have Music
Odd

The problem with this kind of issue is it could just be the tablet design and settings and whether it wakes up in the same way as others do, with all the interfaces running. I can only say that I've enabled the Bubble battery saving mode and it all works fine.

Been a long time since this happened, weeks, possibly months Happening alone was very useful as I think it coincided with other problems previously

Promised myself I would test out the UGREEN Cat7 braided cable today as recommended by MartinTForced myself to stop the music and do it, possibly for a while if the Rendu was upset.... be happy Rendu Playing Neil Cowley Automata Swap from Veetop 2m CAT8 which I bought to confirm what length cable I needed. UGREEn Cat7 1m in Played track Really ? Not sure I can believe my ears and will swap and check again but that is a big step up, mainly in the bass, presence, separation Will leave it in for a day or three and swap back Perhaps another CD v's streaming test I too have the DXE filters so after testing confirms I'll be after another couple of short runs

It's not as if the Supra Cat8 I was using is a slouch, but the uGreen Cat7 does sound a bit special. I have mine running the Tara Labs burn-in because, well, everything changes a bit after use. Bit of a bargain and I have thanked my Thai colleague in the Facebook forum for suggesting Cat7 cables - not the uGreen, which was my choice from the myriad available on Amazon.

My Wife bought a 2m Ugreen CAT7 last night from Amazon on her account just fitted it Tivo box to Virgin modem I removed 16 ferrites fitted to the previous cat8 which is now on the Sony DVD player to modem will see if t makes a difference. I also found another SPSU which now has some ferrites on it's leads.

Couldn't wait
Neil Cowley - Fragmented Recall, Locket sounded a great track so I tried the swap Ugreen to Veetop CAT8 and back to Ugreen
More width, detail and a real *bang* from that drum

I have been guilty of the sin (mea culpa) of making more than one change at a time. First reaching in/behind one handed clipping on ferrites to the leads of a switching PSU buried at the back of the shelving/case our TV sits on & DVD player, Virgin box sit in & spares. Then removing the cat8 ethernet cable from Virgin Hub 4 to Virgin box swapping with Ugreen cat7 round woven cable, I then connected the substituted cat8 cable twixt Hub 4 & Sony DVD player.
Another discernible improvement in TV picture & PC monitor picture. Now I know that neither of these cables have any music interaction they basically only allow updates & control.
Music from the DVD player via coax to the DAC has got more air & space around voices & instruments both real instruments ie piano & electric keyboards on a live recording of Brian Wilson & Friends, the DVD Studio recordings on The Mystic River have a similar gain both recordings are 24/96.
Is this improvement merely down to the ferrites on the SPSU leads or have the 2 ethernet cables somehow prevented the ingress of EMI/RFI into the spare until now ethernet sockets on Hub 4 or the DVD player? Unfortunately too much of a faf to break down to test individually.
Addendum :
An unexpected finding, before the latest changes with the power amp on then switching preamp to full volume set to DAC with the Dorado 3 aux PSU on & charged but not switching on the DAC on there was a noticeable but quiet hum from the speakers then powering up the DAC instant silence, now the noise is very faint prior to switching on the Caiman SEG 50 instant silence on switching on...

Sounds good. If you’ve only gained positives, no need to really know what caused what improvement.

Sad to say I plugged mine (Edit. Rendu, after upgrade) back in, to have red/orange light on the back of the Rendu
Turned all off and all on again, same
Changed PSU to ER, same, changed ER to old adaptor, same
No Sonicorbiter found so I can't reboot the Rendu
Will change the Cisco cable tomorrow, maybe get another idea overnight Turn off overnight in case

The light on the back of the Rendu starts as red, boots to orange then turns green following successful connection to the internet. No internet, no green light.
