The puzzle. Counterintuitive to me
Amazon Prime and Youtube videos work fine most of the time
Sound, without video on Bluesound is a step down from that losing connection more, say 90% uptime Rendu is 10-20% uptime
This must also be a problem for others. Do *not* go streaming if you have a flakey broadband

I have virtually no problems with both my music room and main house 4G streaming.
It really must be location for you, an unfortunate confluence of distance from mast, objects in the way, bad reflections etc.
We'll try our best to find a working setup.

From there it's not much copper, direct to Ultrarendu (or other..). What are your symptoms of poor Rendu uptime Mike? How does it fail?

Rendu and adaptor on Orange light on rear of Rendu, should be green Sonicorbiter.com on laptop or tablet No Sonicorbiter OS based music players found on your network. Refresh same result Green light rarely comes on

Plus next door has up to 60Mbps ! Best position for them dead middle of a long house so maybe the angle through trees or getting a good reflection

In advance of my Tech carer's visit I played around with the streaming kit and found what seems to have been an intermittent fault on the adaptor, between the router and Rendu. Operational ! Visit from my carer MartinT yesterday Good and bad news I'm not useless after all Internet connection via my new router is rubbish Swapped to the old router and seems solid Streamer v's CD sound checks to come and yet more router investigation

Just asking this out of interest is there a specific reason for using 4G ? Is the Fibre either poor or not available ? I have looked in the past at perhaps switching to 4/5G but we are on a hill and there are reception issues with mobile networks which make me feel I would not get the speeds I currently enjoy . Fibre is really good as we are very close to the exchange , in truth standard broadband was always quick and stable for the same reasons .

Just asking this out of interest is there a specific reason for using 4G ? Is the Fibre either poor or not available ? Answering for myself, there are three reasons: 1. The best land-based broadband available to me (VDSL) could barely manage 14Mbps 2. My music room is an annex and has no easy way of routing ethernet there 3. Mobile-based data such as 4G is air-gapped, eliminating line-based noise In my case, mobile-based streaming gives a sizeable improvement in sound quality over land-based.

So is your Rendu fully functional now Mike? Rendu still working. Longest up time since it arrived. Working from my old ZTE router Problems have been from the new 4G+ contract with Three and the new router which I persevered with too long Probably intermittent fault on the adaptor between the router and Rendu More tweaks to come

I swapped to 4G as the best we were ever going to get via a landline was 15Mbps with no fibre upgrade for years Speedtest gives 18.8Mbps right now. Download is or has been highly variable. Sounds like you stay as you are !

A few tweaks to try to the working set up, which is Three mobile broadband feeding a Ponyting external aerial on a mast up high, 2 year old ZTE 4G router connected to the less good sounding adaptor and then the Rendu
I'm sure most will be a waste of time but I'm hopeful of at least a couple
Will report back

I'm interested to know what your assessment of the Rendu's sound quality is at the moment ... I appreciate there will be more to come but hoping it's already very decent.

Tomorrow should be for checking CD to streaming. I've been streaming albums I don't have on CD
Swapping to a *totally different* album - CD sounded significantly better than the stream Same album test tomorrow, maybe a few as swapping from CD to stream has become much easier. Previously needed the Rendu off, switch the TAD to U1, USB connection and back on. That may have been another feature of the adaptor fault/s

Remember you have the other optical adapter (which sounded better) to try again, and the Cisco AOC fibre to try. Small steps, no hurry as you get to know it.
