Are you going to do any vibration dampening on the top plate Well l was going to but.... Looks like Puritan have already put a nice big square of Dodomat underneath already. l'll know for certain, when l open the other one up.

Well pleased... and thanks Brett for a great deal

Part 2 .. Puritan PSM156 Mod So the good news... Unit is complete. Firstly although the Furutech FI-33 Gold socket is no doubt a excellent socket, l will not be using another one, l will be trying a Viborg VI20G socket instead. It really is a pain fitting the Furutech, also it physically longer, and as mentioned about 2 to 3mm bigger in socket size, so forget grinding wheels on a Dremel, you looking at Metal Burr tools, then the hole spacings are different, so get your drill out ,and drill some new 4mm holes..It really is a faff.. Due to the socket being longer,l've have also added some insulation, anyway..l'm hoping the Viborg will be easier to fit. l will edit this guide, once l move on to the next unit. l should also mention l added Gold terminal connectors to the end of the wires that run into the Furutech. Update... l added the a Viborg Copper Gold input socket, although this still needs modding, overall length is the same as Furutech, you still need to drill new mounting holes for the socket, so that also means making sure you have nuts Lastly and you still have to use a Burr tool,as the Viborg is about 0.5mm to big, so thankfully your not, using the Dremel as long as time period, the Furutech must have taken 30 minutes, the Viborg 10 minutes. link below www.hblabs.co.uk/product-page/hb-labs-spade-crimping-connector-copper-gold-plated20241005_083215 by Damien Read, on Flickr 20241005_083618 by Damien Read, on Flickr Quick photo for John 🤣 Damping underneath the lid 20241005_083912 by Damien Read, on Flickr And finally the finished unit... Ready for tomorrow, due to work. So thats lots of Schuko plugs to be fitted. And BTW the unit has had it's contact pins treated with Graphene. l will report back hopefully tomorrow, l'm hoping it was worth the effort. 20241005_084842 by Damien Read, on Flickr

After a busy weekend, and rewiring those plugs, l finally managed to get a few hours listening with the modded Puritan.
Anyway just powered up the modded Puritan, Better.... o yes.. by some margin, more dynamic, speed of delivery, decay on notes... just ridiculous...
l played a whole host of tracks, l then thought l'd check out Sting's Soul Cages album, l haven't played that in a while, the opening track "lsland of souls" was recorded using Q sound, and Dominic Millers guitar has an incredible panning effect, that makes it sound like it isn't actually coming from your left speaker, well my jaw hit the ground... never have l heard the album like this, quite remarkable really.
Crazy thing is ,l've only been using one Puritan, this totally kills running two, which suggests l've got more to come... which is really daft to my ears... l can highly recommend this mod... as it really does take the Puritan to another level.

Finished the other Puritan, will plug in tomorrow, but l did get a chance to try out my new Amphenol DAC cable in between my two N18Pro, last time l tried,it was with a Cisco DAC cable, and it was just to hot, so l went back to my Ugreen CAT cable. Happy to report the Amphenol cable is better and more even handled, and slightly cleaner, and a great lower end early days... l need to burn it in now... but it's looking positive.
Will report back tomorrow, after all those plug changes.

So finally managed to get to second modded Puritan PSM156 working, it's surprisingly how time consuming all those plugs can be. The second Puritan powers my NUC Server,SSD drive and two FMC units, but in all reality it's powering 4 Farad Super 3 PSU units that power those components. Something else that needed my attention, was l had fitted two SR Purple fuses to two of my Farads, however l was unaware that the fuses are directional, and yes... l had fitted them the wrong way around.. so l sorted that as well. There is also the possibility l've done this as well to my R26,so l will checkout that next week.
Now... How does the setup sound now.... Well lt's everything I wanted, clarity, big soundstage... and totally non fatiguing. l have been enjoying a good four hours of random music, and it sounds awesome.
I still have more jobs to complete, l should get my Oyaide Vondita cable for the Puritan,so that's another test. l will also revisit to my Tannoy VS10BP subs, l have some massive Clarity Capacitors to fit, hopefully they won't hold my Monitor Audio midrange back when used, l really like the combo, but using the MA on their own sounds better, but l'm putting that down to the cheap bypass cap used in the Tannoy crossover. This is a big deal breaker for myself, as it will determine if I upgrade my speakers,as they only seem to be missing 70hz and below.
Okay that's it for now... Have a good week chaps

Nice update Damien. Sounds like all your efforts have paid off nicely. Thanks Matt, l'm pretty pleased, it's taken some time to put everything in place, but l'm finally seem to getting near my end goal. That's until the next mod 🤣, but in all honesty, l'm kind of looking forward to a period of stability, and simply just listen 🎶.

It’s too easy to get lost in chasing ‘better’ when you make changes and hear improvements. You forgot about relaxing and listening. I’ve been there before. You’ll have to put some hours on the system now as you’ll have more to come as things settle in.

So managed to get a proper listen to the Oyaide Vondita Power Cable, for point of reference, one end had a Viborg Copper Gold 13amp plug, the other a C19 Viborg Copper Gold ,using HB labs Gold terminal connectors. The Vondita cable was pitched against my Furutech DPS 4.1 cable, and was tested running my Puritan PSM 156 unit. Finding out information about the Vondita a bit of a hard task, however from what views l found online, they where mostly positive. l'll cut to the chase, this is an awesome cable, it matches the Furutech DSP 4.1 on most levels, with the Furutech handling stereo little left to right stereo effect slightly better, they just seem more pronounced, other than that, l was really trying to hard to detect a difference. So the idea was to run the Oyaide Vondita on my other Puritan PSM 156, this then replaced the Puritan Classic Plus cable. Straight from the first second, there was a noticeable improvement, a calmness, and natural feeling that well sounds like musicians playing, it's hard to express using Hifi Cliques..but this clearly to my ears brings things to another level using both Furutech DPS 4.1 and Oyaide Vondita cables, considering its price the Vondita is something of a bargain.
