As hot as the Feist track? I haven't heard that Martin, have try... It's from Steve Perrys Street Talk album, tracks called "She's Mine",it's a great track, that starts with some soft keyboards, then BLAST snare and China from the drummer.

Thanks to MartinT I bought the CD Metals by Feist plays well on my system worth the investment. Also a good test record along with Abbar el Hamad by Aziza Brahim another CD I bought after a track recommendation by MartinT, they & others like Raising Venus by Malia & Boris Blanc found on YouTube. All appeal to my eclectic tastes

We did a test on stream Vs music on the internal hard drive. We played Nadja from Jeff Beck Performing this week. We both preferred the hard drive version to the streaming version, but differences were not huge. This could be something that is system dependent but I also find the same on my system.

We both preferred the hard drive version to the streaming version, but differences were not huge. This could be something that is system dependent but I also find the same on my system. In my opinion it is only related to the amount of digital domain sourced noise that gets into the DAC (if it is the same recording). This will differ (between streaming and hard drive) depending on many local factors, especially when we have a generally low digital domain noise floor to begin with, when everything starts to matter. I am a firm believer that it is this simple, in the digital domain, now a days. (Vibration is another factor of course)

Lots of different factors. That's why I like to stay open minded and not get into what is best.

When I've compared stream versus file (with the file in OneDrive) there has been little if any detectable difference.

Yes I would imagine that to be the case via one drive

Yes I would imagine that to be the case via one drive Yes, this is what i mean. When the file is on internet (regardless of where) it will sound exactly the same since it will be handled the same, via our router/ethernet, if using the same playback software. If using different playback software the small differences in CPU usage can impact the noise levels. When the file is locally stored the source hardware used is different and will therefore impact the noise levels in our DAC (worse or better).

The only difference I have established is that a Qobuz stream starts almost immediately whereas a file from OneDrive is delayed by about 3s, which I take to be all or a large part of it buffering.

Quick update.... After John visited, and pointed out the recessed Midrange in my setup, the gears of my mind have been turning.
So this morning l removed my Tannoy VS10BP subs, so my MA speakers where no longer running though the Tannoys crossover section.
Within seconds... l knew what John was talking about, the recessed mids and presence, and soundstage appeared before my ears. l have to admit l'm pretty relieved to discover this, and it dosent help that each weekend I've added a Farad Super 3 and each one has given me an improvement, that l switched off on certain aspects on the overall sound, so a,big thanks to John for the fresh pair of ears 👂 ... Actually John should start charging... Ears for hire 🤣

One person called me bat ears. He had a pair of open baffles I said I could hear something like the wood had some kind of crack in in it. It turns out his driver's where lose and needed tightening

If John turns up at mine with a cape, I'll just laugh. A lot.

That’s good news Damien.
I always find that if I add something new in the signal chain, I get recessed mids while it burns in.
