Thanks A little knowledge (I have)
Probably not sensible to pay that much for a PSU for a sub £100 amp

Well l'm now back from a weeks holiday that we spent in Twywn in Wales. No music... Plenty of Rain,Walks and Curries. l even manage to finish Geddy Lee book "My Effing Life",which l can highly recommend if your into the Band "Rush". So a couple of Holiday shots, taken from my rather average Samsung phone. Gwesty Tynycornel Lake by Damien Read, on Flickr Dolgoch Falls by Damien Read, on Flickr Now back to my cheap Chinese PSU. Firstly how can anyone possibly complain about the cost, at roughly £20.. You can't really. In terms of build quality, apart from the board itself, your talking a plastic enclosure, and no sheilding. The AC is really cheap and thin, also there isn't any fused plug,so you have to purchase one or you a travel adapter. The output is only roughly 1amp, so please check your power requirements first. Cheap 9v to 8.25v by Damien Read, on Flickr So I purchased this just out of curiosity really, with the intention of using on FMC unit and a SSD unit, and of course my Leo Bodnar clock. To be honest... Due to the time it takes for parcels to arrive from AliExpress these days, a lot of things have happened before they landed. Firstly l discovered how good the Zero Zone Rcore psu is, and then l top it with an impulse buy with the Farad Super3 which is better again... O boy. The first unit up is the 5v powering the LB. So the first thing l pick up on,slight blooming on lower end, and a slight harness, that my really cheap Mash Audio also has, listening yes certainly similar. Next up, the 9v unit detuned to 8.25v, straight out of the traps, reduced lower frequency Blooming, effects and soundstage more pronounce, and less harshness. This totally backs up the optimum 8.25v frequency. So is it better than the Zero Zone Rcore, simply no.. Plus when you add in the fact not only does the ZZ Rcore sound better again, it has a metal enclosure, okay you have to supply a IEC cable to the ZZ Rcore, but the cable supplied and the lack of a further cost of a plug, the ZZ Rcore with its higher output wins IMHO. You could improve sheilding and AC wiring, but what's the point. And we are full circle again, at the price, how can l complain, so these will be used for lesser duties. After my tests, l went back to my Farad Super3... a big step up.

A Welsh friend who is no longer with us, lived near to & used 3 or 4 times a week our local Samrat Tandoori he taught/ trained them as to the Welsh penchant for half & half. The Samrat was famous because years later in 2020 Prince William ordered Peter Crouch a takeaway from Peters favourite Indian restaurant the Samrat as Peter Crouch is a local lad who was at the same local junior school as my 2 daughters one a year or two in front one a few years behind.

Funny l've been laughing at the latest "Bet Fred" advert, Crouchy has natural comedy talent, just his expressions reminds me of the Carry On Days. Can't say l've been to the Samrat, but l am always up for a curry, being Welsh and growing up in Newport South Wales, we where spoilt for choice. And it's the same where l live now in the West Midlands, my favourite lndian for a sit down is "The Kinver Tandoori", it's probably 20% more expensive than others, but how can one complain when the food is superb.

For the uninitiated half rice & half chips with a curry. Palace because I worked at the Palace of Westminster (POW) or Houses of Parliament for 11 years prior to retiring.

So now we know.. Realised I didn't actually answer your question. No half and half l'm afraid. Normally Prawn Puree Starters, Mushroom Rice, and the curry always changes, think l had a Chilli chicken last one,o and a Perswari Nan. l'm generally done in then, and these days l tend to share the rice and nan with the wife,l can't eat the same amounts as l could in my Salad days.

I forgot to say the photos were epic. 40 ish years ago when I was still powerlifting my brother in law his wife daughter & his boys & my wife our 2 girls went to a restaurant out in the Chalfonts Buckinghamshire the restaurant had on the menu a "challenge" a 40oz steak that my wife had ordered for me as I came from work so on arrival I ordered veg not knowing it came with veg & chips, Whilst I was eating I ate a portion of whitebait that did not suit someone also my fish soup, then the steak arrived it was over 40 oz's cooked I noticed people getting up detouring past to go into the toilets. Then I was asked for my details, transpired for a very rare certificate, they were surprised when I ordered the chefs revenge for desert a glass the size of a goldfish bowl containing an 8 oz box of quality street ice cream cream and fruit. Then cheese & biscuits of course. I'm cooking tonight for my wife & I, 2 x 10 oz steaks mushrooms & 2 x baked sweet potatoes & I will be full. The Samrat is about the only Indian restaurant I use my aunt was born in India in 1922 came here after the WW11 I ate her food as a baby, I don't like the usual anglicised fare... I was addicted to her lime pickle much stronger & more flavourful than Pataks.

Another of today's tasks, was re swapping the caps out of my FMC unit, l had swapped out to Panasonic FC 220uf 50v. And to be honest, l've been happy, and didn't really have to suffer any burn in, worked well from the off. atoz tried a different approach, Panasonic FC 1000uf 10v, increased capitance, where mine was increased voltage. We know both work, but in honesty, why would you chose one over another? 2nd Cap charge on FMC by Damien Read, on Flickr As you can see, the 50v are a little taller. So l gave the 1000uf 10v a swap out on all four FMC units. First thing l noticed, a slight harshness to the sound, l believe the burning in period must be more noticeable using a higher capitance, and l can confirm this as after a couple of hours, the harshness was starting to tame, but still present. I can't say if l heard any improvements at all, give it a week, and l am betting that once the caps are burnt in,it will probably sound the same as the higher voltage caps. Thankfully it's a easy swap out,to return back.

Did you ever try Nichicon MUSE caps? Can't say l've heard of them, but l know there's shed loads on the market. I went Panasonic FC route as l've found them reliable, and Neutral sounding. Let us know more about the advantages of the Nichicon Muse caps? Do you have a preference, bigger voltage or higher capitance?
