The Evija looks awesome - it's a kind of mix between 70's and contemporary styling. Love all the design details.

Colin Chapman didn't like it when customers specified paint on his cars. A bare aluminium 7 is 2kg lighter than a painted one.
You try and win back those 2 kgs with magnesium castings, CF etc.
Bare aluminium - absolute nightmare to keep clean.
V8 hehe, have to be a DFV then? Part of it rather than in it.

V8 hehe, have to be a DFV then? Part of it rather than in it. I've had a V8 before, in my BMW 540i. That was a 4.4l developing "only" 286bhp, in other words barely working hard (but enough to sustain 150mph for an hour chasing a Porsche down the Autoroute). I'm thinking of something more potent, possibly flat plane crank like some of the best Japanese V8s. What I'd like is a Lexus LFA but I don't happen to have a spare million lying around. And it's a V10.

Would really consider an electric as I do not do much in the way of mileage these days . However as I live in a mid terrace house and have no drive the issue is going to getting the car charged . I did do a search before I replaced my car in January but there is just nothing sensible .

The Millionth EV was sold in January this year in the UK, which indicates that more people are buying them, both business fleets and private, private sales have dropped slightly but so have ICE cars(petrol/diesel) due to economic climate in recent months. However the general trend in EV car sales is an increase in new and used up by 90.9% in January 2024. As we all now there are a lot of myths, misinformation and actually blatant lies about EVs out there in the press and on social media. This MISINFO is not only unhelpful to the general public it is confusing and probably leading people to make bad decisions which will impact them in the short and long term. Whatever your current views and thoughts are on the EVs I would urge you to read the 'The Little Book of EV Myths', supported and published by the RAC, which tackles 21 examples of electric vehicle misinformation." media.rac.co.uk/documents/faircharge-little-book-of-ev-myths-439716It tackles the MISINFO clearly, concisely and adjectively and information was to produce it was obtained from those listed below. If you are nearing a car change and are not sure what to do whether buying new or used I would recommend you read this first before deciding one way or the other. "Auto Trader, The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Zap Map, Tesla, Transport & Environment, Carbon Brief, International Council on Clean Transportation, Statista, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, AA, Association of British Insurers, Auto Express, National Grid, House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee, RAC, Dr Euan McTurk, Energy Transition Commission, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Norwegian Automobile Association, Consumer Reports, Recurrent Motors, Forbes Magazine, AutoinsuranceEZ, Sustainability by Numbers, Gartner Research, Tusker Direct, Bookmygarage.com, Edmund King OBE, Prohire, Gridserve, CAP hpi, Thatcham Research, National Transportation and Safety Board." www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/electric-vehicles-news/faircharge-release-little-book-of-ev-myths/

I see substantially more and more EVs when out
They are not perfect or all things to everyone but we need to go in that direction What people don't seem to realise is that eventually road tax or similar will have to be paid by EVs to make up for the loss of tax on fossil fuels.

There is a lot to like about EVs, but they are not a one size fits all solution. A lot of the problems ( both real and imagined) stem from the fact that they are not yet a mature technology, and are being pushed onto the market via government diktat, before the product, the infrastructure and the market are really ready.
To drive EV's are lovely but:
* Model for model they are heavier * They are more expensive * The depreciation is currently terrible * The range is less than an equivalent IC car * Low temperature running can be a problem without a heat pump system * Public charging infrastructure could be better * Cost of repair and battery durability a concern.
Much of the above will get better in time, and over several model generations, but not within the timescales set by government.
Most people dont have a problem with EV's as such, however they do have issues with being forced ( by government) to buy something that is more expensive and less convenient than what they currently have.
People with a public platform like Quentin Wilson would do well to remember that.

I have a work colleague who is on his 2nd EV and is less than impressed. He started with a Renault Zoe that was OK to drive but one day it dumped him far from home, the car dying and staying that way. After a lot of mucking around with the dealer and Renault, they diagnosed that the motor was faulty and wrote off a perfectly decent car because it wasn't economically viable to replace the motor.
Now he has a Nissan Leaf and the battery only charges to around 83%, which is a range of 80 miles. He has constant range anxiety. Nissan won't exchange the battery, or more likely repair the cells, until it is reading less than 80%. He doesn't use the heater or AC because of the power draw.
Stories like this show how immature the EV industry is, with expensive parts and repair and little choice of who will work on them.

Nissan Leaf batteries are well know for their longevity, so how old, was the one he got, sounds odd to me?

This will be why there will a huge glut of used EVs soon as no one will want a battery that's been used for 5,6,7 years.
I know I wouldn't.

With competitive design and appropriate infrastructure build out you wouldn't need mandates. Yet another ackbasswords effort by governments to implement change by writ.
