Good choice is a granite placemat on top of your kit, assuming air vents not blocked.
A 100mm granite coaster is good for small kit, matches the placemat too.
Flat, dense, heavy and usually black !
Protecting the kit a sticky felt pad under the granite is recommended - could there be better ?
Granite direct to your equipment might sound better but maybe damage it.
There may be better and there could be a lot of factors at play that we need to consider. - Reason for the thread
My assumptions so far
The heavier the better
Aim to cover the top or as near as you can
Using weight is almost certainly linked to the feet under the kit or the supports, perhaps also the rack used
When I first tried a weights on top of my system I had already placed supports underneath
Certainly you need both
Dense material may or may not be a factor
My TAD D-1000 arrived after I had Creaktiv racks
The Creaktiv was so impressive I wondered if I needed more for sound quality
Black Ravioli underneath and one granite placemat improved sound.
Finding myself with a couple of spare small Electric Beach platforms and a granite placemat I wondered what if ?
Subtle improvement with both
TAD gained a granite placemat sandwich, the Electric Beach in the middle.
Spare Black Ravioli pads from system change..
Tried them and they worked too, directly on top of the TAD, granite sandwich on top
Recently I discovered either Shungite or Granite coasters in etween the Black Ravioli worked even better
Extra weight on the TAD M2500 power amp and AM mains conditioner
Grounding boxes benefit from Black Ravioli support again and as I ran out of granite coasters some old DLT tapes in boxes
I've robbed other kit and now want to try other weights, space and aesthetics permitting
