I need some speaker help I been through a crazy amount of speakers over the years and my next speaker needs to stand the test of time. I visited Vic yesterday and heard a few speakers Klipsch RP500m it sounded a bit shouty and the mids were congested I am clear I can not go back to this speaker Monitor Audio Silver 50 7g These have lovely mids the bass is good but no where near the next speaker. However I heard enough to be open to other models that might give better bass. The Definitive Technology D9. This does fantastic bass and treble, but the mids for rock is not for me. Just a bit recessed for my tastes. I am even considering some pioneer TADS that are on eBay but every now and again TADs can be a bit strident for me so will probably give this a miss but I love the scale, resolution and ability to play loud. The speakers need to be stand mounts, costs anything under 2500. Good tight bass with clean highs. Good all rounders with textured bass and can punch when needed is what I am after. I am even considering some pioneer TADS that are on eBay but every now and again TADs can be a bit strident for me so will probably give this a miss but I love the scale, resolution and ability to play loud. I be willing to go active as would simplify the system and would stretch up to £3000.
I have been impressed with stand mounts they have really improved since the days I had Jamo 8 and the Silverline SR17
I want a end game speaker, but know tastes are personal and every speaker has it own strength.
Open to ideas to demo

What were the shortcomings of the KEFs, John? Perhaps the LS50 but they wouldn't be inexpensive even used.

ATC are to low in sensitivity 84db. I am using Temple monos so sensitivity 86 plus. a must. I agree lovely speakers but do not want to change all my gear The Kefs are ok but do not have the mid punch I like Ushers take a lot to get right in the crossover between treble and bass. But heading in the right direction

Hmm Enough. More than I guessed "no grilles stands not included but listed" is beyond cheeky
Hah £850 for the stands !
Lazy typing, can't be bothered with upper case where required Where else do they not bother ?

Open to ideas to demo Hi John, these could very be worth considering, right at the high end of your budget though. A lovely detailed speaker, theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?73444-Fs-Audio-note-anj-lx-blue-hemp/page2, Alternatively you could consider a pair of Wilson Benesch Vertex or ARCs, the Vertex took over from the ARC's. I had a pair of ARC's and they are extremely good lots of detail, great soundstage not that picky about positioning, they do Bass down to 35hz, they are a very accurate speaker, so give them a poor source and you will hear it. The Vertex are supposed to be even better across the board. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203808270075?hash=item2f73eb66fb:g:LTwAAOSwYbJh4G83

Thanks Adrian I tend to prefer a bit more lively speakers I had Wilson Benench in the past and the ones I had were not really for me The Audio Note will not punch when needed and want that punch when it is there in the mix Yes, I know ultra fussy

If the stands were a lot cheaper a better possibility You could try a low offer for both but you don't hear them before you get them Auram Montan Quadrals impressed me www.quadral.com/en/product/aurum-montan/Tony may have these 2nd hand or a good alternative

The floorstanders I would never get up in the loft, but the Standmounts in the same range looks nice

I have Vector's and they certainly have plenty of punch, and produce a very musical presentation. They can be hard to find though, I was very lucky with mine, and did a swap deal for a pair of Tannoy Legacy Arden's, would never go back now, working great with the Krell KSA-100.

In the meantime I am listening to mostly acoustic or ambient based music until I get the stands sorted. The speakers have a lot of depth and detail even though they are not properly isolated at present. I think a lot more to come.

The Heco? The shape is reminiscent of Wharfedale Diamonds.
