Yup, the convenience of that unit are very attractive. I've steamed veg to be ready for the missus coming in from work where she's been late. The steamer not only reheats the food, it rehydrates the it too. Fantastic bit of gear. as i said earlier, we need a new one and the one you originally linked to Paul is definitely an option

A quick read tells me that this is a little different from the steamer I out on the hob Anything I missed? As Pete says, you could cook two or three things which all need different cooking times, and have them all be ready at the same time. It'll also keep stuff hot for 20 minutes after it's cooked if you're not ready to eat immediately for some reason. It does the same basic job as the hob versaion, but it's got some useful additions... things like "boil dry" cutouts, and the one I've bought, and the "upgrade" are dishwasher friendly, and I never put my Le Creuset stuff in the dishwasher. I set the timer for different times Don't ever use a dishwasher

Reheating in a pot, oven, or microwave usually yes Mike. Reheating and rehydrating in the steamer no. The food tends to 'dry out' in the first three. Obviously not with the steamer as it keeps the food moist. I wouldn't try to recook food in the steamer, just heat it up which only takes a short time.

...I set the timer for different times... I thought you only had a "manual" steamer, or am I missing something?

£1.50 with Tesco Clubcard ! coming tomorrow brian2957 - you going to try them ? Maybe give them a go Mike. We have both lost our Clubcards and I ordered a new one yesterday Love to try those Birdseye burgers too. There seems to be a lot of decent vegetarian/vegan options coming to market. Demand , even among meat eaters, must be quite high.
