Polyfilla might work but I prefer it to be flexible

The linseed oil in putty might attack the polymers used in the cables. What about the pre-formed, dense PU insulation used for pipes cut to fit snuggly around the cable?

Uneven Foam sealant would be perfect if that didn't also go for the cable
I want something like liquid paper that hardens but remains flexible !

Thanks Pete I guessed that The holes are much smaller but lose a lot of heat.
Silicon or foam sealer would be perfect but assume the cable will be degraded
Saw a YT clip of a specialist company sealing a house in the US. He said up to 20% heat loss through ceiling light fittings, switches, mains sockets, various joins, cracks and other. Big job but great payback

Door handles
Bought some replacement Bosch fridge freezer handles for the two that had broken off. Good price on Ebay way less than a Bosch part, looked close to identical
Many times I tried to get them to fit, carefully as the old ones had snapped off in the door. Highly frustrated and unable after many tries to technique my way into fitting them I pushed much harder than was sensible. Used as much strength as I could muster. Damned things went in. Colour me surprised.
On similar lines an internal door handle has been wrecked, mostly by a toddler swinging on it as well as a lot of use Trying very hard to work out how to get the handle on one side to stay on the door. Builders used tiny screws, upgraded them, mech in the door broke so got another Still can't get one handle to stay in
Stood and stared it into submission Found the answer Builders again The shaft has been cut about 3-4mm too long so one handle or the other cannot fit flush to the wood

Sounds like there's a builder out there somewhere who wants his shaft cutting off, Mike.

In general manufacturers are constantly making sealants less attacking, but always best to check. These guys positively want you to mix silicone and lecky cables... www.ehow.com/how_7434869_waterproof-electrical-cable.htmlI've used silicone sealant on low voltage cables, to seal water features etc. The fishtank grade stuff, not regular bathroom.. No sign of any attack years later.

Brown tape over the gap as much as I can Hadn't condisidered Rockwool as I need to *stuff* it in, but it could serve as a draught excluder rather than insulation !

Yeah, good old rockwool or glass fibre insulation will do too. Millions of miles of lighting and other elec cable lying on and under it in lofts and walls of the world.

We have an extractor fan in each bathroom. Ceiling vent, tube to fan, tube to wall vent. All the gubbins is easily accessible in the loft.
When the prevailing winter wind blows onto the end of the house there's a lot of cold air blown straight in. Less so the other end but depends on wind direction.
I bought a flippy non-return flap and put it in the circuit, just after the fan. It looks like they are 3d printed.
They work well and solved the draught problem. No discernible loss of extraction.

You do !
Before you buy one have a look at those with stair slides or climbers Folders a possibility but check the weight capacity first Range massively increased since I bought mine
Come and try mine out when you can. Why ? You have to appreciate the *perfect* balance it has. Most sack trucks are horrid and horrid to use.
I laugh when I move some of the huge things easily like a large garden table yesterday

We have a 200+ kg one. I bought it to get the tapped horns to and from the van for the Scalford show. So useful. Recently moved 30, 4m long Oak sleepers, laid down and strapped on was a doddle. Would have been hell otherwise. Used the end of the sleeper as the rather long handle🙂 Most recently moved my table saw from workshop to garden, to do some landscape wood sawing.. Extractor fan non return valve flap
