Hoping for super strong man I don't qualify Me neither ! Need to work out how to get it to span the ditch. So far my thoughts are to put one end in place on one side, get it vertical and drop it over. Might work but could damage trees or roots nearby. Plan B might be put a more easily managed ladder across and slide the Catnic on that and tip off Ropes and pulleys I don't have Brain power I have in small amounts

Went in the garage yesterday to get gardening tools out - no light. Dead as a dodo. Check breakers, fuses to no avail. Get Ruth to toggle the power and test inside the double fluorescent batten - gets power, no light. Ballast or transformer shagged. Go down to Homebase to get a new fitting. Everything is LED now, no replacement fittings for tubes. Buy an LED batten with no internal replacement parts, get back and start disassembling the old one. Why are there three sets of twin-and-earth going into it? Much more circuit testing than I needed later, established that there is only one live circuit with the other two leading nowhere.
Finally got the LED batten working, bright as the Sun! Wasted far more of my Saturday than I had counted on before I actually got to the gardening tasks.

A bit smaller scale than Martin and Mike's antics, but I decided to re-organise my small workbench in the studio and add some extra drawers etc (still a couple of under the worktop ones to install. I wanted to sort out and organise all the tooling and extras that go with the Emco Frankenmat lathe and mill and the Alessio mill and so added extra on / behind bench storage plus some drawers created by modifying some Bamboo desktop units. The latter worked so well that I have ordered the bits to build another set for the bench opposite that contains the electrical and optical tools. The Emco lathe and mill were originally just bought for doing odd jobs as I didn't want to install a proper instrument lathe here in Germany (although I did anyway, but that's in the basement workshop!). I then got a bit obsessed with modifying and improving them. That process is not yet complete, but they already perform at a much higher level of precision than in standard form. Over the next couple of days I will attack the wiring and switching systems on the workbench and add the under-benchtop drawers. The little drawers underneath support a small, granite reference plate. I need to reverse the drawers and add proper handles and add a pair of lifting hands on the sides as it's a bit on the heavy side!

Had been waiting for 50m2 of aggregate concrete in my back yard since December 2019. Had a guy even dig it out, lay base course and put in the boxing. No show after that, many times.
Requoted. Guys turn up, and then don't send the quote. Guys say they will turn up, and don't.
After three different times getting quotes, finally someone comes through.
So, now have to dismantle the pergola and roofing next to the shed, replace the beams, and extend the joists and purlins. Then put in 6mm clear acrylic sheets, 2 @ 3x2m.
Last time I did this was 16 years ago. Will see what age has done to my ability to hoist timber up on my own!

I don't fancy that. Our garden is full of sleepers, many of them rotting after 15 years of exposure. The rotten ones I can lift. The new ones - no way!

Life gets in the way (and listening to music of course)

Pergola dismantled, reconstructed, extended, and cast acrylic sheets installed. Tricky trying to stop leaks against the shed, but mostly got it sorted. Now have a 12m2 covered concrete pad, with an outdoor couch under it.
Have to say that cast acrylic (Perspex is a brand name) is way, way better than corrugated polycarbonate sheeting.

And now cracking into replacing the deck. More than time to do so. The current deck I salvaged from a skip 15 years ago.
Ripping up the boards and removing nails is the tough part. Laying the 140 x 32mm boards is a little easier. Have found a system that screws into the side of the board, so no visible screws on the face.
Managed 12m2 today. Billy Bragg helped me through some of it.

Thoughts please
I am selling my mother in law's flat.
The buyer wants the non fitted wardrobes removed. I'd like to find a way of getting them removed and recycled so someone else can use them rather than the current option of paying a bloke to go in, dismantle and the tip
This is a 2.5 hour drive away so not favourite to do myself
What thoughts ?

Are they any local recycle charities near by that might be interested. They will often pick up and might dismantle.

Does the area where the flat is situated have a local "freecycle" group ?
It's worked for me in the past.

Blocking holes and keeping cables safe I have holes where electrical cables come into the house. You can feel the draught and I want to block it with better than bits of bubble wrap What quick alternatives ? Not going to use silicon or foam selaant as that will damage the cables There is this R391 ELECTRICAL WEATHPROOF COMPOUND 2X250G

You could use putty or similar to seal them in the same way as windows.
