Ironically yesterday was the hottest day of the year so I can definitely rule out rain.

Looked for 5ghz
To my surprise both Amazon Firesticks are connected to it. Even though they are turned 'off' they are still talking says router
After running around the Plusnet settings I can't see how to turn 5ghz off

Trying to troubleshoot my mum's Plusnet WiFi has made me even more appreciative of my Sky internet at home which rarely gives any hassle.
Today I've reset the router back to default settings. Remembering Martin's hatred of WiFi extenders, I am now testing my phone on the non-boosted network. The signal isn't as strong of course but so far it is much more reliable and I'm not getting the constant dropped connections. If it continues this way the WiFi boosters will be going to the bin before I leave.

WiFi extenders gone in mum's network. Router on auto channel select, so far everything working reliably. Slightly shorter range in the house but a small price to pay for a decent connection!

That was a weird one
For a few days now about 1 in 10 times when I click to change something, EG Reply on a post here I get
Your connection was interrupted A network change was detected. ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED
So far I've reset the router, rebooted laptop
Download speeds are consistently down to 8Mbps from a normal 12-15
Hang on Cable is connected but icon shows wifi. Reset router, cables out and in Still wifi return half an hour later Back to wired 14.77Mbps

Was it today, Mike? There were national internet issues today due to issues with Openreach. We had three hours of the internet arsing around at work, right when several key Teams meetings had been booked.

What is going on with the direct cable connection to the router ?
Sat next to the Plusnet router and my laptop with all 10 of the cables I have
Plugged them all in Only two work, old ones I used for years at work. Some of the others have may never been used. Look new.
Wifi still wobbly

There's some seriously weird shit going on at your gaff, Mike.
Perhaps it's time to reduce and simplify? Start again with just the router, log into it and ascertain that all it well.
Then watch it as it sees connected clients (wired first, then wireless) and keep an eye on what's going on.

Here's a suggestion Mike.
You have spent so long getting frustrated with shit WiFi. You aren't confident troubleshooting yourself so just get someone to come in and install a new mesh WiFi system and a new router if required.

Thanks Back to basics suits me
Have reset many times, off and on a few more
Spoke to Plusnet tech support earlier this week She turned off 5Ghz but I see 2 Amazon firesticks connected to 5Ghz. Will take them out. I'm hoping for a new router so will stay on the case with them

Router may be the/one problem. The wifi another. End of Plusnet contract is September, not so far away now and a switch to Three mobile broadband beckons Then aerial and / or Mesh Had fingers burned on experts and I fairly happy doing what I'm currently doing

That wasn't so much fun.
Everything off, including phones. Left off for half an hour or so
With Wifi off. Cable connection only. One cable now works. Speedtest 15Mb download. None of the others, at least two or three of which used to work Back to the one cable for a final check - no that doesn't work either now
Wifi working. Speedtest 6Mb download
I could see that a couple of cables wouldn't work but not all of them

...and what does the router say? You need to be logged into the interface to see what is going on.

Then from what you say after it rebooted itself the connected Ethernet cable don’t work. If my understanding is correct then it sounds as if the ADSL router is having hardware issues and you need to get another one from your broadband provider.
