Are you getting a strong Wifi signal at the end of the house where you lost connection? How far were you from the ADSL box? What are you internal walls made of and how many were between you and the ADSL box? I also have another thought on what may be occurring. Let me know about the above first.

I was doing fine on my laptop on the internet and also watching YouTube on the Firestick (wifi) The boss had the problem on her laptop with the ipad as backup. Neither worked Wifi signal not measured The boss was around 20 metres from the Plusnet router. Had been working fine in the same position up to 1.30pm One stud plasterboard wall, then the TP Link extender then a brick wall to the outbuilding

Mike, just a thought, but how old is your Plusnet router?
When I took a new contract with Sky recently, I made a point of asking for their latest router which I think I got for nought.

The current white Plusnet router is good.
Wi-Fi extenders are notorious for losing their connections. Discard and go mesh.

Apple extenders are good they invented this stuff, mesh is good but not cheap.
My thought was you may be getting throttled cat certain times. The service providers run software on the switch against each phone line to see how much data you use, and based on this they load balance the switch by turning down the tap, more for this that use less and less for business users,”. They don’t like to admit to it as it goes against the minimum bps that they sell.
You would need to monitor your upload and download speeds over 36 hours and see where the highs and lows are, it may explain why you loose it a certain times and it get slow.

Wasn't renewed on the last contract. May or may not be current / good Working my way towards asking Plusnet to replace

The current white Plusnet router is good. Wi-Fi extenders are notorious for losing their connections. Discard and go mesh. Ours is white so may still be current - or maybe knackered... Yesterday the wifi worked fine at this end of the house while the boss lost it opposite end. Previously the wifi has gone completely so only direct wired would keep us going

If it helps, we are well impressed with our Three service and 5 x BT Wholehome mesh wi-fi (with the Three's wi-fi disabled).
It's all very reliable and we can certainly stream different programming to three TVs and do internet work without any glitches.

Three gets the vote from next door with Ubiquiti
How many mesh items do I need ? Bearing in mind we only have a problem in one location

You could start with two and add more if you need.
You've seen the size of our place - the distances are greater. My guess knowing yours is that three would do it.

Go to the Linksys site and use their configurator page for MESH products to see what is best for you, their units have up to 2000ft range I think, so depending on your house walls and how big you may get away with one. If you live in a mansion with lots of acreage then you will need a few more.
By the way if you look on the Apple site at the Linksys products they list which Apple products are compatible with the Linksys Mesh products, which is helpful, so for example if you have a MacBook Pro it needs to be Late 2013 onwards.
