All joking aside there isn't a 'best' streaming service . . . the best streaming service is the one that works the best for the individual user, which is highly subjective.

Exactly, and I know my criteria are different from others. I'm being quite tongue-in-cheek here. However, my value for money opinion stands and I'm disappointed with Spotify for dragging and back-pedalling over at least standard res.

Groovify app sounds great For Spot only though so far as I can see Anything for the beloved Qobuz.....? What do you need, Mike? There are Qobuz apps for Windows, Android, iOS.

What does it do that you need? Make playlists for you?
No thanks, I don't use playlists like that. I add stuff I want into my playlists as a catalogue. The Qobuz app is very easy to take the songs I want to keep in my Queued for Playing playlist to one of my permanent ones. I use the Qobuz curated playlists (or just burrow myself) to try out new material and then add them to Queued for Playing.

I can feel the ground shaking under my feet, but I agree with Martin - can't see why you'd need that, but then again I don't really do playlists.
I don't like third party apps, the least number of apps who have my login details for other 'official' apps the better is my maxim. Too many backdoors.
Interesting thread though, reading other peoples opinion on Spotify has been illuminating

The content is no longer available?
Just had a poke around my albums listed on Tidal as something I wanted to play had been marked as The content is no longer available. I don't have many albums saved on Tidal as I still play a lot of my own music, currently it's just 97 albums on there - I have much more saved on Spotify. Of those 97 saved, 9 have now disappeared so I checked my Spotify account which is currently Spotify Free and all 9 albums are there.
I think I'll be going back to Spotify next month and if Qobuz don't get Connect sorted pronto, I'll probably be sticking with them and calling it a day.
That's always been my biggest bug bear with any streaming service, over owning it myself . . . . disappearing music!

Tidal's ownership has changed quite a bit. Not sure if it's connected, but possibly licensing issues and conflict of interest?

I've just cancelled my Tidal subscription, so I'll be going back to Spotify next month.
Spotify isn't perfect, but I don't think any streaming service is, it does however tick more boxes for me than the other's I've tried.

Welcome back Sir! Funny isn't it, I've now gone full circle from a time when I played the most music with Spotify, JRiver and my own FLAC library, to 2 years with Roon & Tidal, then to Qobuz and JRiver, back to Tidal and now back to Spotify and JRiver on a Linux server, with my own library of over 4,000 ripped CDs and a few hundred LPs. I know it's system dependant, but a ripped CD with a well setup JRiver player has always given me the best sound quality than any of the above permutations.

Perfect . . . they can ditch podcasts too. That's a smart move, I'd been hoping they would offer a menu of options.

OMG - I set up my mum's headphones to be used with Spotify on her phone. She doesn't have Spotify Premium and when I tried to play some music it immediately launched into video adverts - not one but at least four! I gave up at that point and showed her BBC Sounds instead ...

Well, I can understand that the streaming providers want to actually be paid for their service.
Spotty is also at reduced resolution on the free band, those adverts did you a favour!

All the latest noise says that Hifi will cost another $5 a month - by the usual "exchange rate" that will be another £5 for us.
