Here's a thought and they'll surely have had the data to work with whilst making a decision to launch it or not, but what do people listen to Spotify on? I'll wager for most people it's a phone, so data size and bandwidth is a very relevent part of the equation. But for goodness sake make your minds up guys!
What are they going to charge too, they are on the cusp of being the most expensive service anyway, if they ramp it again I can't see the take up being that big, but who knows?

We use Spotify on our many Sonos as well as occasionally in the car, and of course the family use it all the time on phones paired to Bose noise cancelling headphones etc So def of benefit there. We can use Qobuz on the Sonos but not with voice control. Have to get phone out and control - so don't. Can hear the difference, 320 Vs CD so good for that.
If they get it done by summer I doubt I'll renew Qobuz. Can always do a Tidal trial for a month or two. I'm not tied to anything higher than lossless TBH. The engineers knew exactly what they were doing when they spec'd that resolution, and our ears have not evolved in the slightest since then. It might be a matter of taste or confirmation bias as to whether the other higher res formats sound different.. Great recordings sound great at that res. Crap recordings don't sound better to me at higher res.
I also look forward to using Spotify connect instead of 3rd party apps to interface between music streaming service and renderer.
Bring it on!

Yup, agree with all that Steve and if a service hasn't got a good connect interface it just doesn't work for me, it's an essential element. 3rd part apps are just not up to what I need, too Heath Robinson. I guess if I only did playlists it could possibly work, but searching for and only playing albums isn't any fun without connect.
I really like Qobuz but one thing that's pretty rubbish is their search facility, compared to either Tidal or Spotify it misses the mark by some margin. If they get lossless going before Qobuz get connect going, I could have a tough decision to make. Might just come down to price at the end of the day.

Yes, as we will always have Spotify family (as long as it exists..), it will always beat the others on price🙂 For me the are just filling in for the current lack of lossless with Spotify. Once that gap is plugged, I've no need of anything else. I do like the scrolling lyrics thing too. Came across some new artists, they are on Spotify but not Qobuz. I have requested - takes a while.

If Lossless isn't too expensive I'm in, I don't need anything else either. My family will stay with Spoti whatever so much easier if I stay too ...

Thought I'd try Spotify this evening. Steered Rendu to Spotify connect instead of DLNA.
I keep my playlists pretty up-to-date on both Qobuz and Spotify, so no loss there.
Listened away.
I do prefer the search and storing to playlists is more intuitive.
Using the proper app instead of Bubble Upnp or mConnect is a joy!
There's a bigger Swedish catalogue too.
Now to the sound quality.
Everything sounds vibrant and presented slightly differently to the Qobuz sound. Hard to put my finger on it.. Not sure if they've changed something since I last tried it on the big system?

I tried Spotify recently. Ok sound quality but lacking resolution, not interested in the interface as it does exactly the same for my purposes as Bubble.
Removed Spotify Connect from my Rendu again.

Definitely heard things differently with Spotify, very strange.

Just had a quite rare but fun listening session with Marie.
Using the lyrics feature that is present on a lot of songs we were able to choose some fine sing alongs and have fun 🎶🎤
Every Swedish song we tried has the lyrics (Scandi cross lingo thing). They seem to do them all.
She enjoyed it and wants to do it again.

Another nice feature is, if we hear something on Swedish Radio, they have a website where every song is posted in real time. There's a link to open in Spotify. Straight there, can add to liked songs or a playlist. No faffing typing in, copy/paste. The others (YouTube excepted here) are behind on this sort of thing I think. This is the sort of thing that matters to many people.

This article is from 2018 but it wouldn't surprise me if the state of play is similar today.
Spotify charges different amounts in each country according to what the market can take. I get that. You can't charge as much in the Philippines as you can in Western economies but who is top of the charging tree? That's right, good ol' UK! The USA has a much higher GDP but pays less.
Jumping forward to 2024. Premium in the USA is $10.99 (£8.77) and £11.99 in the UK.
That's a 22.5% difference. Please explain why.
Why do we always get taken for such mugs in this country? Probably because we very rarely complain enough en masse.

Spotify £11.99/mo for lossy compressed music.
Qobuz £12.99/mo for lossless hi-res music.
No contest.

Horses for courses.
-Spotify family for 6 users £19.99 -Podcasts (daughters use a lot) -Connect -Voice control on all our Sonos / Daughter's / granny's Echos -Better catalogue (for some/most) -Lyrics feature -Better search facilities -Extensive links from radio stations etc etc. -There might be more.. Oh the social, all our friends/relatives use it, and we can socialise musically thus, if we choose to.
When lossless comes, we'll see
Until then I limp on with faff Bubble or mConnect 3rd party apps, for hifi use and do all the above using SPOTIFY 😂
For our narrow field of hifi use - it's currently no contest 😏

I'll get my coat . . .

Nope, I just see Spotify as poor value for money.
But then, I care about one thing only: sound quality.
