Great news They do take awhile to really bed in but great clean open sound with lots of detail and surprising bass from such small speakers Feed them a good amp and source and they reward even more

Good news! A photo of the back with a Proprius amp mounted would be good.

Yes this thread has been going on for almost a year, you can't be skimping on the photos now

It is just a question of time between my 19 day old daughter and playing with the HiFi.

Pictures, although not the best.
Naked drivers
Child proof drivers
Side on view with the amp fitted.
Proprius amp mounted.
Rear view.
The colour does not show up well with flash photography.

Thanks Wonky. Still can't believe how small the driver is in relation to the scale and depth of sound the speakers produce.

Could you remind us which speakers you have replaced with these?

Cyrus CLS70. Even though they have a bad reputation from some people, I quite liked them on the end of some decent amplification. The Frugels are a result of me wanting to try something different.

Great thanks. Are the new beasties vastly different, and all for the better?

The new beasties are still running in. They need about 250 hours before they start to open up properly. They currently have about 75 hours on them, so it's still too early to comment fully.
Initial impressions are really good, the imaging seems better, and there seems to be no loss of detail. Bass is a bit lighter at the moment, but I am still not using lots of volume. I am really impressed with the finish and sound of these. Steve does a fantastic job.

That is a lovely colour combination. Im glad you are enjoying the noise they make. My pair did indeed need a couple of hundred hours to settle down but as some folk have mentioned the drivers are still getting better with more use. A couple of TAS members have heard the improvements to mine as I rack the hours onto them.
Have a play about with placement...it can make noticeable sonic changes.
I have settled on a slightly unusual method for powering them.( if a more IT savvy member is willing to post up pictures on my behalf PM me)

Well, the speakers have been in use for a few weeks, gradually running them in. Must be getting close to 200 hours now.
Playing some Massive Attack yesterday, they seems far too lean. I removed a bit of the stuffing today, and boy what a change. I cannot believe the bass these speakers are capable of producing, whilst still sounding fully in control. I am a very happy man. They sound absolutely superb, and I am glad that I took the plunge.
