Good to know Spoti doing the business on BT5. The same with YTM...I can’t figure why lower bit rates benefit from BT5 vs the likes of full fat Qobuz which is fairly consistent. This is the bit I do not get either

Tonight has done it. I need a 2nd BT5 receiver. One is fine for my study system (system 3) but BT5 and YTM easily qualifies for my primary system. System 2 already has BT5.

Has anyone else played files from a micro sd card via BT I haven’t and am willing. What renderer are you using and are you using flac?

I’ve had a go with BT files from my phone using jetAudio, also Limetree Bridge with files coming from my music server. Finally Qobuz via BT / phone.
The BT device and Bridge were coax connected to my Qutest. All three devices were are powered via Supercap power supplies.
The most obvious difference initially was that the BT device has less bass and dynamics than my files served to the Bridge. Once I tweaked my bass amps to compensate there was less obvious difference but the Bridge dynamics were still better. BT was a trace smoother. Both setups are very musical in their own way. BT bass quality I feel is touch better but also less dynamic.
To check the bass issue I played Qobuz through BT via my phone. Bass quantity is the same as files served via the Bridge. Bridge dynamics with served files betters Qobuz.
All are very good listens. Setting them up optimally is probably the key. My served files setup is likely more optimised than the others...so it comes out ahead, though not in every aspect. BT5 is very capable.

Interesting I got slightly different results I had BT5 slightly ahead in terms of depth but differences were subtle. I had both powered by the QP1 with the LT was using the same cable and was on Black Ravioli pads as was the BT receiver, the only thing different was I was using a USB stick with the LT I had the LT on mode 1 as forgot I could resample higher and that also might of made a difference.

I was in mode 2 upsampling on the Bridge. Maybe this accounts for some of the difference. Could also be an element of usb stick Vs music server...so many variables!
I could easily listen BT5 with files, all the more so given the lack of cost.

BT5 is very impressive. BT was in my mind classified in the convenience pigeonhole. BT5 has dramatically changed this...thanks John for pursuing this and leading us down this route!

Streaming FLAC from my Samsung Tablet at 96 Khz using BlackPlayer is not as good as streaming Radio Paradise FLAC from the tablet or my phone. Neither are as good as via USB from my Asus Tinkerboard. Loss of bass is the main difference, echoing Clive's finding. But, for "casual" listening, RP over BT is perfectly fine until I take my phone too far away...
