About 6 months ago I tried the IFi Zen it did not synch well with YouTube and the sound I got was a bit harsh in the treble. However my friend got a small Bluetooth 5 box from Ali Express. Every time I heard his system with it I was always impressed by the sound quality. Also they did not appear to be any synch issues with it.
Finally I got to play with the Bluetooth box I have set my settings on LDAC on my phone and like Jerry and my friend I am quite surprised to the quality that I am hearing. No synch issues. YouTube is a revelation some files are at 24bit 96k. Quality of recordings vary greatly but when done well, the sound is surprisingly good. I am going to play around with it some more, but I can see myself getting used to this.
I am using YouTube premium so no adds
This is a crazy cheap way to get a media player for your system

I’ve heard good things about BT 5....I’ve just realised that my new DAC has it...I must try it ASAP.

Is it imperative to have 5 on both ends? I suppose it’s more ideal.

I think so but your phone tablet should have 5 as standard

I think for the higher rates the phone will have to be 5 but report back Try Chris Jones No Sanctuary that is on 24/96 on YouTube as very well recorded

Bluetooth rules! I have to confess that I am 100% Bluetooth these days. My audiophile-approved Wireworld USB cable, W4S Recovery reclocker and Halide Bridge USB converter (both of the latter with fancy PSUs) are still there but bypassed, unused. I prefer the sound of Bluetooth, sourced from my phone. It has to be Bluetooth aptX or aptX HD, though.

I am surprised with what I am hearing Jerry on well recorded YouTube tracks this is beating my ASUS Tinkerboard and I am not even reclocking as using COAX output. I will to do a proper comparison over the next week and compare Spotify on the ASUS board and Bluetooth as well as Tidal as also using the cheap £1.50 for 3 months deal before making any firms thoughts My friend is now just using YouTube as his preferred media player

Surely you can't get all the music you need on YouTube, or is this the paid-for music service?

A bit OT, but I suspect I could live entirely on YouTube. I'd need to approach it rather differently, but there are seemingly limitless live classical concerts, and similarly vast quantities of interestingly obscure recordings uploaded by a number of fanatics.
I don't think it would be a hardship, it may even turn out to be preferable!

Tony@Coherent is quite vociferously anti-USB. Bluetooth neatly avoids it in my setup and imo is an upgrade. Maybe Tony knows what he is on about. Although I suspect that his opinion of Bluetooth would require moving to the Frequent Flyer part of the forum.

. No surprises there! It works for me, very happy with it atm. It's not a convenience advantage for me as I can just as easily control USB streaming from my phone with Spotify Connect.

John, it turns out my phone is BT5. After a small struggle, I have it connected to my DAC. Initial feedback is that quality is good with Qobuz playing hi res. I need to have a proper session with it to assess it and play youtube music.

Tony@Coherent is quite vociferously anti-USB. To qualify that, he doesn't like USB as the main feed into a DAC. Neither do I. It's prone to conveying a lot of noise into the DAC. However, reclocked USB into the Mutec, with AES feeding the DAC, leads to much lower levels of noise and better musical resolving power.
