Am following this with interest. Has anyone tried using an iPhone and/or iPad, or Apple MacBook Pro (all of which use BT5.0) with these BT receivers? ~thanks. Not tried it but iPhone supports the AAC codec so you would need to check compatibility.

Bluetooth aptX and aptX HD are widely available and sound excellent. I wouldn't fret too much about LDAC if it proves difficult. I think this issue is also for apx and hd apx as Jules receiver is able to do both and will still revert to SBC which trust me is awful I will need to buy a new tablet or phone for BT5 so want to make sure it will work with all codecs. First I will test the set up with my wife's BT5 phone.

The BT5 receiver from Aliexpress has just arrived. At first I thought it was losing connection. It turns out the current draw is too low for my powerbanks...they switch themselves off. It's running flawlessly now from a phone smps. BT5 from Android is working and my iPad connects too though presumably BT4.
Shame I can't power from either of my powerbanks...does anyone have a workaround aside from charging my phone from the powerbank?

I am using my spare 5v from my LPS Check with Jules as had a similar issue with the masterclock and Jules powerbank didn't have this issue

The same happened to me, so I put an additional item on the power bank (the charger cable for my battery powered DAC) to make it stay on.

3 options I suppose:
1) find a small extra power draw, eg a USB light 2) power from a spare supercapacitor ps 3) buy a different powerbank
1) and 2) are at least free or almost. A powerbank would be handier to use TBH. I'll try my USB microscope..

Looks like I will have the same issue when I get round to using mine but my Chord Mojo will run off 5v Powerbank.
When I try the BT receiver with D70 DAC I will need to run something else off the Powerbank.

Do let us know how you find the sound quality when you get it running off battery, Clive The BT device is in my 3rd system (my study), I will try it in my main system with YT Music, Qobuz and Spotify via Android BT5 and iOS BT4. Maybe I can do this tomorrow. You’ve given me extra homework! 🤨

When using YouTube go to developers Options and change to 96/24 With Spotify change to 44.1/16 it should help get the best out of both of them if you are using LDAC Clive

I’ve got developers option enabled...multiple taps and then I spin around anti-clockwise 3 times..or that’s the magic we seem to need to use.

Do let us know how you find the sound quality when you get it running off battery, Clive No battery but Supercap ps instead...all good following some soldering. BT receiver feeding Qutest. Streaming via iPad BT4 (I believe it’s BT4, it’s iOS so few options). Phone smps powering the BT receiver..not bad at all, perhaps a tough splashy. Supercap ps powering the BT receiver..now we’re talking, sweet extended treble, powerful bass. Spotify vs Quboz....very similar results to smps vs the power supplies. Qobuz = Supercap Part two. Streaming via Android phone BT5. That’s interesting. Smps still not great. Not surprising, there’s no reason why it should be BT5 vs BT4. What is interesting is that Spotify with BT5 is close to the quality of Qobuz. Why should lower bit rate streaming benefit from a better BT connection? Part three. BT5 Android using Supercap ps YouTube Music (YTM) vs Qobuz I don’t use YT Music on iOS. If “vanced” means anything to you you’ll understand. I tried 88.2 vs 96 with YTM..I didn’t hear much difference but extended listening with a variety of material might show differences. The main conclusion is that YTM is darned good, I’d place it pretty close to Qobuz. With video on some recordings and a different range of music it’s really handy. Whether BT5 helps here I can’t be sure, my hunch is that as with Spotify it does.

Good to know Spoti doing the business on BT5.

Good to know Spoti doing the business on BT5. The same with YTM...I can’t figure why lower bit rates benefit from BT5 vs the likes of full fat Qobuz which is fairly consistent.

Seems like very similar results as I am getting. Crazy considering the costs and where it is performing at. With Spotify I find better at 44.1 so worth a try
