How does BT Spotify now compare to the Limetree John?

Not a lot of difference to be honest BT5 only slightly wins but YouTube music is another story

Is that YT Premium?
Supposedly the bit rate is less than Spotify but uses AAC codec.
I guess I need to see whether YT has all the classical albums I have on Spotify.

Yes but the tablet is sending out 96/24 for YouTube whilst Spotify sounds better at 44/16 I am not the only person that thinks YouTube sounds more natural using BT5 it something you need to try for yourself and make up your own mind Jules. Files are easily the best in terms of sound quality more depth detail and resolution and this is just using 44/16. I cannot explain technically why YouTube it should sound good in theory it should not. I admit recordings can be a lot more varied. When sound quality is poor it is really poor.
I have a spare BT receiver that people can borrow for a week, either pass on to someone else or return to me. You will need a 5v power supply I will send a lead with the unit. You will need an Android phone or Tablet that can do BT 5 and be willing to try out YouTube premium for free and just be honest good or bad as I have no idea if it is a system thing or the unit is actually good. I have no commercial interest in the product I am just interested in peoples thoughts based on actual experience.

Have you managed to get your phone or tablet working with LDAC 900k John?
It seems a lot of phones are stuck defaulting to a lower bit rate.

My Samsung A50 phone works fine. Originally I got a Lenovo M10 but now using a Samsung A8 tablet without issues as could not get into LDAC. Vic Lenovo M8 works fine for some reason. I looked into the issue and I could not find any solutions, advised to disable duel audio but the procedure they give is not available. Thankfully no issues returning the M10.

It's interesting that you can get LDAC working with your Samsung tablet John.
There appears to be quite a lot of noise on t'internet that if you try switching codecs in developer options, after setting, the tablet will default to Samsung's SBC codec. Is this an issue you had to deal with?

Yes SBC is pretty awful it is about finding the right phone or tablet not all phones will default if you Google search you might be able to find a solution

Turn on LDAC If you do not get this check to see on line how to stop duel audio in Bluetooth. This might not be possible.

What I've noticed is that manufacturer specs are only part of the story. It's easy to check whether a phone or tablet is Bluetooth 5 or not but you have to have a good look at user reports to find out whether LDAC support runs smoothly etc. A bit tedious really.

Bluetooth aptX and aptX HD are widely available and sound excellent. I wouldn't fret too much about LDAC if it proves difficult.

Am following this with interest. Has anyone tried using an iPhone and/or iPad, or Apple MacBook Pro (all of which use BT5.0) with these BT receivers?
~thanks.

I'm not quite sure of the terminology here, but I use a Huawei PSmart phone (that's an iPhone?) as my primary source into a £35 Nobsound Bluetooth 5 aptX HD receiver. Fabulous.

No, an iPhone is an Apple.
