Since the 6/4 it's crashed twice (on V2.7 SW) - the flash on 0.0 secs, won't play problem. Not even doing any heavy lifting! Just playing a regular album sized playlist. Perhaps an hour into listening.
Using the DAC diagnostic app, Ultrarendu says the DAC is fine. Rebooting Ultrarendu, it then says the DAC is not found. Turning Gustard off and on fixes it. Dac shows up and it plays again.
This is the way - as The Mandalorian would say. A reliable fix.
Quite quick too actually, once you know..
Hopefully I'll get V2.8 soon..

Hopefully you'll have trouble free playback now Steve, nothing more infuriating than hitting play only to be met with silence!

v2.9? Haven't seen a sausage written about that. Do you have a changelog or version notes?

V2.9 was on a 16mb SD instead of 8 I had. Here's the data. The IP address changed so I had to remember for to interrogate to get that😂 Version Rather odd Looks a little streamlined / something missing maybe - can't remember. App switcher - whoaaa where's Spotify gone?! I don't use Spotify on Hifi really - bit cuddly and muddy really. It plays! With Qobuz set to 24/192 it loaded my 92 track playlist instantly! That has as few 24/192 tracks in it. Hasn't fallen over yet. Added I've this far chosen the last in the list

It looks the same, but it must be just out. I have no problems with 2.8 but I shall order 2.9 just to keep mine up to date.
Did you get yours from Small Green Computer?

Does your V2.8 have Spotify listed in the App Switcher? I can't find a thing on t'internet about V2.9. I've sent them an email about Spotify..

Yes, it's had Spotify Connect since v2.7.
Have you installed it from the Software Manager?

So this evening I glibly pressed the ▶️ on my favourite tracks list in Bubble / Qobuz.. It played the first track pretty much instantly👍 Next track due up, silence..👎
No play. Flashing 0.0 seconds status on Now Playing screen in Bubble, second track screen showing. Selecting other playlists or tracks changes to them but no play - fishing 0.0 secs.
I check the Dac diagnostic in Ultrarendu, Gustard is there but "not available". I reset MPD in Ultrarendu (shot in the dark), and select MPD/DLNA again.. No change 0.0 seconds flashing, no play. Dac light on my Najda dac is permanently lit - as if playing.
I reboot Ultrarendu, after reconnection, no play. Dac diagnostic now says "No audio devices attached...."
I power off and on Gustard. Dac light on Najda naturally goes out.
I've not restarted Bubble, or changed anything there.
I go back to Bubble, select a track and it plays..
This is V2.9. Same problem and same fix procedure as before.
I suspect the problem is Ultrarendu, as it only falls over when I select a big playlist with some 24/192 tracks.
Why would the 'dumb device' Gustard go walkabout on a simple track play? Doesn't make sense it would.. unless it's randomly faulty, at the right times.
Don't think it's anything to do with Bubble UPnP either.
I took screenshots of the whole sequence of events and status outputs. Will send to Sonore / Small Green Computer contact Andrew.

Did you buy the ultraRendu used? Perhaps it's faulty?
Did you also perform updates on 2.9 in case there is a bug fix required?
I haven't seen such behaviour since 2.7, about two years ago.

Yes the Ultrarendu was 2nd hand and on V2 7. It works fine with Spotify etc etc. Have you tried playing really big playlists or a huge Tracks list with lots of 24/192's? Try it over and over and over. Every time you listen. Then at random times, rinse and repeat, over a period of days / weeks. I've asked Sonore etc for advice. Sent them the entire fault situation and recovery with pics and screenshots.

Plus going down to 24/96 to solve, doesn't sound like a HW fault in the unit.

Hehe, the 92 tracks playlist was a smaller playlist! My Qobuz Favourites or 'Tracks' as it's called in Bubble has 154 tracks🥵

I had a similar issue with Bubble UPnP not rendering content over 24/96 content and resolved it by transcoding it down to 24/96 when streaming Qobuz to a Naim NDX using BubbleUPnP on a Synology NAS. However, I suspected that 24/192 might be Okay, but some tracks that appear to be that are actually sampled at a different frequency, eg Abraxas (where I first encountered the issue) is actually 24/176.4.

I have left my system playing big playlists containing a mixture of resolutions on repeat all night, and on some occasions several nights, for burn-in purposes. Never once seen this problem happen.
2.8 fully updated, BubbleUPnP fully updated on Android 13.
