I've started this thread for any general photographic chat.
I've just bought a filter from Gobe. Came beautifully packaged in a tin designed so you can remove it without manhandling. Also comes with a nice cloth.
They seem to have become very popular since I last bought a filter. Sensibly priced and a choice of three optical 'qualities' I believe.
They also give you a 'tree code' whereby after you upload it to their website, they will plant five trees in countries that have been devastated by deforestation. So far over 2,000,000 planted.
All most impressive.

I bought a set of their filters for use with black and white film a couple of years ago. I liked that they came with a pair of end caps made from the same metal as the rims and then dropped into a nice soft cotton bag also containing a cleaning cloth, all inside a stiff cardboard cylinder made from recycled material. Trees too!
Great idea for a thread, by the way.

Here's another great tip for photographers who want to chat about stuff: There's a great little forum, which is run by petea, called The Real Photographer's Forum. It was started off back in 2010 by Hamish Gill, who quite a few members here will recall.

He's busy trying to persuade me to sell him my Zeiss Ikon at the moment. The scamp!

Well, I can understand why he might do that!

This is his review of the very camera. I couldn't be tempted to sell it after he last borrowed (and dropped) it!. As I have not used it since he did though maybe it is time - it's not like I don't have others I could use! www.35mmc.com/19/03/2016/zeiss-ikon/

Mischa and I are just chewing over the pros and cons of various medium format cameras at the moment. Constraints are budget (low...very low!) and Mischa's need for relatively teeny, tiny, light cameras. Current thinking lands us in Bronica territory - ETR range fits her physical requirements perfectly, but I wonder if she can handle an SQ.

Does she have a preference for format? One of the cheap TLRs would be a possibility if square was Ok with her. Hung round the next, at waist-level would even allow her to go for a slight weightier model even maybe (a Yashica maybe).

If I can work out the logistics I have a Mamiya C3 kit which I loaned to someone in RPF about 6 years ago! He still has it and needs to return it at some point so I might be able to get him to send it to you if you want to give one a try. It would be no use for Mischa though as it weighs a ton and is best used on a tripod.

Lubitel maybe?

Gosh Pete, that's a very generous offer. Thank you. I like 6x6, as square frames suit me very well. Mischa can live with it, however, she can't get along with waist level finders. I quite like them, which is one of the reasons for thinking about a Bronica - I thought we could have the luxury of both without tòo much of a price premium and also have the bonus of metering with a prism, too.
Never wanting to turn down an interesting experience, if we can work it out, the offer of the C3 is fascinating!

A Mamiya 7 would be wonderful, but not possible at the moment, given the price they fetch. We considered the Fuji rangefinders but the fixed lens choices would be too constricting. Either of us individually could find one we could compromise on, but none would suit us both. I often like to have the option to go wide and she prefers to err towards long.
A Pentax 645 might work but is a little more of a stretch in price.
