Glad to see they're back up and working. Do you hear differences from before the restoration? See post #126. Ah, you've greatly extended that post! Aluminium electrical wiring? I've not heard of that before.

I do get a sense of some really good sound quality going on there. I can kind of imagine being in the room listening. Pop round when you can be arsed and see. You could pick up the lava stands too. For whatever they are worth now. Thanks, Justin - I'd really like to have a listen, but it'll be a few months yet, I suspect. Maybe by then you'll have to pay me to take the stands away.

Sensible. I am riddled with many different diseases at the mo.... Actually listen to the drum track loud via headphones and you're almost here:) I will say though in the flesh that video played loud is bloody impressive. Not many speakers have the required speed/impulse response and balls to do it well.

The boys are back in town. Why are these all original internally 1975 amps, who should have had their caps replaced years ago by all the wank you hear on forums, still sounding bloody fantastic? Huge accolade to ELNA, whose huge reservoir caps are still doing the business 45 years later. I am not replacing them until they explode. I must admit in this room the Luxman M-800A is on dodgy ground. The Lux pre and Accuphase is a better mix than I expected. Jerry knows the earful he had last time he heard the Accuphase. This is calmer. But still highly dynamic and detailed. A real equipment mess. Seriously need to sort it out. So much stuff at higher priority elsewhere, though. Next out the 211s for a real old mess of old gear. I need to sell some of this much loved kit to tidy up but I am just not so sure I can bring myself to do it.

Yes, I can imagine that the Accuphase monos would go well in your now larger space.
A bit too intense for me in your old, smaller room, they probably get a worthwhile grip on the proceedings now.
Keep the lot! Why not? You'll enjoy swapping them round every now & then.

You actually need to be quite careful not to overdrive them in this room. They don't like driving 4 Ohm speakers at high volume for long, and it's easy to push them too far such that they switch themselves off due to thermal overload. There's no audible clue they are struggling.
The Luxman never does this. It just tells you when it can't manage as you can hear it easily. So you turn it down.
Not so with the Accuphase but at least the meters tell you if you are being a bad boy. Seeing deflections into the 400+ Watts is a sure clue. Easy to get carried away after a bottle of vino, though;)

Gosh, that's a lot. My Belles has no meters but if I look at my regenerator readings it sucks a maximum of 150W or so above idle into the 4 ohm Ushers if I'm giving them incredible stick - that's for both channels, obviously.

It'll be interesting to see how the big 211 valve monos get on there. .... Could be new amps on the horizon! I don't see Justin as being happy to have to turn the wick down from the frankly insane loud levels that he enjoys.

They won't actually play that much louder than the Luxman, the power requirement goes up massively to get the last few DB.
Being monos stereo separation beats the Luxman easily. The Luxman has tone whereas the Accuphase have none, really. Everything is laid bare by them. It can be a bit much. The Luxman mid range is easier to live with rarely causing any issues. The Luxman sounds nice, the Accuphase just tells you more, sometimes too much.

Dream Theater at 11 via the Accuphase gave Jerry brain damage:D

So the 4K Amazon Fire stick comes through and I start using it only to find the max audio capability is 16 bit at 48 KHz.
Which negates all the Ultra HD content in Amazon Music.
Champion. Not! It's bound to do 24/96 minimum I had thought. So sure of this was I I didn't bother to check.
I'll still use it but it is a bit annoying.

Look out for 10 seconds audio drop out every so often. Much online and I have tried everything I read to no avail The 4K may have sorted it by now

It's been good so far.
During lockdown I had to use a laptop and download loads of material as the internet here was almost unusable a lot of the time.
Now live streaming is a goer.
BTW TIDAL used to stop for 2-3 seconds about 7/8ths of the way through a track for ages. Never got to the bottom of that one.
Also plugged the Luxman back in and overall I prefer it. So I am gonna sell the Accuphase. Close call, though.

God I need to get out and hear some other systems cos right now this one has me thinking it's one of the best I have ever heard.
The bass articulation and low distortion levels with these new clamps and ribbons is outstanding.
I must be deluded.
I need a reality reset.
Bugger off covid!

Nah, like many of us here, I suspect, you've fine tuned your system by an ongoing process of trial and error to the way you want it to sound. We also tune them for the type of music we want to listen to. So if you listen to someone else's system with your choice of music it probably won't show it at its best. Just be thankful you can't get to hear my MBLs atm, that would reset your audio expectations. Actually, my guess is that you have the system you want and I have the system I want. I'm sure they sound very different, they always did, but more so than ever now, I expect.
