Wasn't this the Russian GP? Surely Putin had the results before they started.

Penalty points removed and Merc fined 25k. Maybe someone pointed out the ambiguous notes and how they read to native English speakers. Ah! Excellent ! Merc now need to wake up and stop undoing all the good work they and LH have done over the years otherwise people will start highlighting the blunders over the great things they've achieved as a team. Even Verstappen said he felt the penalty was a bit harsh

I'm glad they removed the points and fined Mercedes - that seems fair. I also understand the 10s penalty, although it seems unfair. However, they need to stop making the rules up as they go along and applying them inconsistently. I also find Michael Masi's comments highly arrogant. Charlie Whiting had a much gentler way of putting things that maintained the respect of the drivers.

David C and Mark W were very scathing of the meddling stewards during race commentary.
Some hilarious comments as Lewis sat doing good time in pits.
Always smacks to me of trying to make more of a spectacle of what is an otherwise run away Merc season. It backfires.

I don't want to be one of those silly conspiracy theorists, but it has the appearance of being exactly that.
I really hope we can have some meddle-free and red flag-free races coming up.

A fun interlude. If you ever, for a minute, thought that any F1 driver is 'just a bit faster' then watch Robert Kubica drive around the Nurburgring in a BMW M4. These drivers are insanely fast.

It did somewhat stink of a 'slap down', didn't it? Considering the current political climate and ongoing 'poisoning' events the FIA should be asking itself whether it is appropriate to hold a GP in Russia IMHO...

Like almost everyone has said, the rules were ambiguous, Hamilton asked Bono if it was ok, what more can a driver do while in the cockpit of an F1 car? for me the race was buggered before the start by the stewards effectively stopping Hamilton win the race, if there was to be a penalty then it should have been financial only and for the team to pay, to my mind if the driver clearly askes the team for guidance then he can't be penalised when given incorrect advice. I wonder if in the same situation any of the other drivers would have picked up a 10s penalty, my feeling is maybe only 5s and strangely enough 5s wouldn't have stopped Hamilton winning the race.
Rant over.

What a shame. I had hopes that they would get there, they already equalled Renault and Ferrari so they weren't far off. They definitely have the technology but, clearly, have other priorities.

Honestly, I don't know why Honda bother with F1 if they have no intention to commit for the long term, also, would you trust Honda to supply engines to your team without a cast-iron guarantee that they were still going to be around next week?

Honda have been supplying Indycar since 2005, so they do have staying power if they so desire.

Red bull supllied by renault in 2022? I dont see they have much choice, merc wont supply them and they arent going to want the ferrari motor given the performance of it this year. They also could do with a a car that someone other than max verstappen can drive.....

I believe under the agreement that Renault must supply engines to them, they have no choice. Red Bull would have to suck it up, too.
