Hopefully better showing, but he only really did really well in the RB back when that had various steals over the competition and who know if he got pref treatment over his team mates to protect just enough?
In equal machinery I'd take Alonso / Hammy and even Massa of the old guard everytime at their respective peaks. New guard Verstap and Le Cl of course.
He'd do better to shuffle off now really.
I saw Perez more as crashy car breaker really.

I really want to see Sainz do well. He's starting to look like the classy driver I always thought he was, and not winning last Sunday when he was running a good 2nd behind Hamilton before the red flag was just bad luck. He earned that place with a lightning quick qualy position that he admitted had frightened him as he hung everything out to get that time.

New track and new track record for Hamilton. Bottas was leading all the Free Practices but #44 just piles it on when it most matters. Hamilton on pole for tomorrow.

Absolute madness at Mugello today and a race to remember. Two lots of big crashes, two red flags and two race restarts.
I can't describe it all so watch the race highlights on YouTube.
One thing became clear: Bottas is simply no match for Hamilton. He had three chances to take the lead; Hamilton overtook him the first time and then twice more Hamilton simply shot into the lead. LH44 also played a blinder into the last two laps, enticing Bottas to get close and lose his tyres, then piling on the electric deployment thus denying Bottas DRS into the last lap. Impressive strategic intelligence.

Nice bit of mostly DRS racing.
Hammy on 90 wins. One short of Schu.
Honda robbed us of a Max v Merc race I fear
Nice 1st podium for Albon. Good recovery after restart loss of places.
12 finishers! Carbon fibre mat factory heaven.
Lewis' flame retardant under garment message spot on👍

I like Stefano, he is one of the good guys. What's your take on Vettel going to Aston, Martin? (see what I did there? )

It's a difficult one, Dave. Part of me thinks Vettel lucked into a great car and won four world championships based on a huge advantage. He was never a particularly good close-combat racer and he has done badly at Ferrari not just because of the poor car.
On the other hand, he's quite likeable and I do hope he can flourish once more under what will undoubtedly become a team to be reckoned with under Stroll's investment and the AM name. This is his last chance, though. If he isn't immediately superior to Lance then his days will be numbered.

I'm pretty much on the same page as you, Vettel is undoubtedly a talented driver but he is flawed, a diamond in the rough. He is seemingly okay as long as his team mate knows his place, things are going his way and he is in the lead (or at least in contention for the lead), when he is out of contention though it would appear that he just gives up. This trait has always been there but it has got worse as Vettel has got older, probably because the car he's been given is not up to snuff. This is a damning indictment for sure, but I envisage Vettel as a slightly more talented Romain Grojean. If Seb was in the same team as Hamilton, Louis would eat him for breakfast, lunch and tea.
As for Aston Martin, despite all the extra pennies Daddy Stroll is bringing to the outfit, I am concerned that we may see a repeat of the Jaguar F1 situation. The brand is in a tenuous financial position just now (isn't it always?) and I do not expect them to exist in F1 for more than three to four seasons.

Q2 was almost a disaster for Hamilton, but he got past the line with about 1.5s to spare to set a time and get through to Q3 and win pole. Vettel had a bad crash.

It was a very strange race with Hamilton getting into all sorts of trouble and the race action happening at the back of the pack. Sainz made a terrible error at the start, hitting a wall.
The Hammy 10 point penalties were an odd thing. Was I the only one who heard him ask the team if he could do the practice starts further forward and get the ok? Bad way to spoil his day, and a decent recovery to 3rd all things considered. Bottas had little challenge from Verstappen, which was a shame. I'm still not convinced by Albon. Stroll was unlucky to be taken out by Leclerc.

I see there is room for misinterpretation with the race director's notes about practice starts....they say "after the lights", not immediately after. However I don't believe it's normal to do such starts at the end of the filter lane. Legally Merc may have a point but realistically most of us would have thought it's wrong. 2 penalties though are excessive.

Penalty points removed and Merc fined 25k. Maybe someone pointed out the ambiguous notes and how they read to native English speakers.

Lewis responded to one 'why' question regarding if he thought the penalty was harsh by saying they want to stop him.
As Karun Chandhok and other Sky commentators said, he's likely said that in the heat of the moment/battle, fresh from the race full of disappointment etc and that after he comes down a bit and has had the team debrief he'll probably see it different.
The truth is Merc are exceptionally good, but like all things, not perfect.
This is not the first time they've cost him a race by telling him to do something they shouldn't have.
They cost him a race win at the Italian Grand Prix when he was told to pit and again today, they should know the rules, that there are penalties associated with where you can and cant do practice starts.
Strange today that this happened. Two race wins down the pan is no joke, regardless of if you are winning plenty of races or not.
It's cost him penalties, race wins and more points on his licence (he's now close to a race ban), who's to say it wont ultimately cost him more - I sincerely hope not.
Mercedes need to protect their prize asset much better and stop this silly waste of points they are costing him.
At the end of the day LH is doing everything and more inside the car, they need to ensure they cover off their bit, outside of the car, properly.
