I guess class D amplifiers divide opinions as to if they are really good A few of us here quite like them I am mostly thinking Jerry I have gotten good results but never really stuck with them in that constant quest looking for something that would make the difference I think Class D often provides good value but to get the best out of it a lot of attention has to be paid to providing clean power quickly otherwise the amplifier will not perform at its best I think I finally reached my endgame in terms of amplifiers and feel surprised to be saying this using a Class D design What are other people's experience of Class D

I love the sound from my TAD 2500. Bought on sound not class. I'm an equal opportunities listener

I have to say that all of my power amplification is Class A. Valve in the case of the Lab12 units, transistor for the Teddy Pardo and Onix units and hybrid for the Lector VM-200. The main amplifier in the UK system is the Lector (with the Lab12 for high days and holidays!) and Lab12 for Germany. My only experience of Class D is when I visited Max Townshend and heard his hybrid system. The power amplifier / crossovers were Class A valve for the super tweeters and Class D for the bass / mid drivers (his own design speakers / drivers and amplifiers) and it was truly impressive. Done well they seem to work very well indeed.

Class D rules. I remain convinced that my Class D Marantz is my Destination Amp. That's what it stands for - D for Destination.

Class D designed correctly is very hard to encroach on imho However the vast majority are piss poor two dimensional, clean, dynamic soulless boxes of unmusical dirge of the highest order and you can quote me on that.Mr Class Tony for 15 years plus

That a very interesting system that Max has It is indeed. Utterly unique. Years ago I seriously considered that small class D amplifier that a few of us loved Jerry brought it to our attention a class A/B for the mid bass and of course a pro class D for the bass Go totally active I might of done it if I had enough money I think it would of given a interesting result

I am currently using Thivan Labs amplifiers and to compare them with anything Class D would be utterly pointless. There may be brands I have not heard but the technology is still in its infancy. Class D has been around a long time but has not been done very well so far.

Interesting Dave, completely agree on the Devialet 100% soulless dross of the first order.

I find it very hard to imagine the Belles SA-100 class AB MOSFET power amp being bettered in my system for any reasonable amount. It's my end amp, never likely to be replaced.

The Belles is a really nice sounding amp Martin ( another amp that is effortless and musical) I would be very surprised if you sold it.

A low powered highly engineered Class A design is pretty far away from Class D David

I’ve not yet heard a class D hifi set up.
From all I’ve read, 95% of them don’t appeal to me at all.

I would like to correct you have listened to a 'D' class derivative last year on your visit here I believe your Sanderson was a class d as well possibly?
The liquid music amplifiers are a D style amp just with a few improvements lol
