Really?... How you're swinging these days? Have to say, in 50 years or so of fiddling with audio, what I've looked for soundwise, has never altered. And that's... an ethereal-type sound, for want of a better word, and 3D imagery. Bags of grunty, texturous, trouser-flapping bass and life-threatening dynamics has never been on my list of priorities.

I found that what I was looking for changed a great deal when moving from analogue to digital. Transparency, resolution, reduced noise levels and tighter bass all became important whilst some needs remainded the same such as soundstage, imaging, tone and timbre ...

I just wanted to share this very long live blind test video of class-d amplifiers, in-case you where not aware of it. The Hypex Nilai is apparently a very good class D module, according to them. I added the build from the same channel

AUDIOPHONICS AP300-M400ET Power Amplifier Purifi 1ET400AI received a pair of these last week after an over two-month wait thanks to the combined efforts of Colissimo (French post), French customs & UK customs. They have replaced my 10 year old Temple Monoblocks (still going strong) and my Topping PA5 which I was using for the bass drivers. They were worth the wait. My B&Ws and my ears are loving these amps. First of all, there is the power - up to 227W into 8R per channel - that allows my B&Ws to delivers deep, dynamic bass. I am a Class D fan, I like the clean sound they deliver and the 1ET400A is impressive in this respect - certainly a big improvement on my previous amps. I am driving them directly from by Gustard X26 PRO via the XLR outputs and using its digital volume control. There is a switch at the back of each unit to select XLR or RCA inputs, so I can use the latter when using them for AV duties. This has allowed me to remove my passive pre-amp (and lots of cables). The cases are solid, well built with ventilation holes on the top and come with decent speaker binding posts. There is no switch-on thump/click that I sometimes got with the Temple Audios and being Class D they barley get warm. Overall, I would say that despite the customs charges, the Audiophonics implementations are very good value compared with other 1ET400A offerings available in the UK and EU, but I have no idea how they compare sonically with the others.

Excellent result and great to be able to ditch the passive, I loved doing similar...

Those Audiophonics power amps look incredibly good value. They look like a high end, several thousand pounds amplifier, even down to those chunky binding posts.

If you are looking for a Purifi 1ET400 based class D amplifier, they are certainly worth a look. They have various options of power supply and stereo amps as well as monoblocks. If you want to go down that rabbit hole, you can try out different ops amps.

l run a similar set up with my Nords,l have Sonic Imagery op amps. I can vouch for the 1ET400A,they really punch above there weight. l think they bridge the gap of wanting Hi End performance for those of us,that can't afford the cost of many Hi End amps.

I did look at the Nords and I am sure they are very good, but a similarly spec'd monoblock is around 60% more expensive, so hard for me to justify. I might try the OPA1612 op amp at some time in the future.

Of course VAT, Delivery & Handling fees can also bump the costs when importing.. Good old Brexit.

Previously, I got stuff in a week from Audiophonics, now more than 2 months. It worked out around 20% for import fees (VAT, basically), which my price comparison took into account. Shipping was about £20, but next time I would pay more to have it couriered rather than post, in the hope it will arrive quicker.

Couriers can be terrible to deal with, plus they can charge stupid amounts on handling, on top of VAT, actually l'm not sure if there is cap on handling fees, meaning you could be wide open for crazy charges. I can give you some horror stories with UPS... Thankfully it dosent seem to happen with the Post Office or Parcel force.

Using The Fosi Audio V3 here with a Nordost Vishnu power cable ( which costs around 3x the price of The Fosi itself ) this then feeds the ( valved pre amp section of a Vincent Audio 237MK integrated which has NOS valves in it ) this feeds very well isolated Audionote ANK/LX or ProAc Tablette 10 and l am just going to leave this here, it sound SPECTACULAR.
