This has been a while coming, here is my system as it is today:
There's a couple of new additions, can you spot them?
Here's a less subtle clue. Apologies for the finger marks, I've just added better footers, so they need a proper clean.
This shot gives a good perspective of just how large the monos are; roughly twice the height of your average box!
I'm extremely grateful I spent the time planning, measuring and remeasuring when drawing the hi-fi rack, I knew I'd have monos one day and I had to factor in the platforms, all of the isolation footers (for both platforms and items) AND some stupidly big components (without knowing how tall they'd be). It all worked out perfectly.
I've got a 13 month old boy and the hi-fi is as much a risk to him as he is to it, so I built this (admittedly ugly) barrier to protect them from one another. It tucks under the rack and so he can't pull it forward onto himself. I built this because I've read so many other people's tales of woe (I wish I'd never sold xxx and just boxed it up etc) so fingers crossed it all works out.

Nice bit of furniture, Martin. It all looks well matched. What source are you using?
My only comment would be that you're possibly injecting vibrations from the speakers into the system rack, which you want to avoid. Is there a way of wall-mounting the speakers?

RDC Cone City !
What was the difference like in sound quality ?
Could you put the speakers on stands ?

Those LDA amps are something special.
Ever since I heard Nicks prototypes at Owston I've lusted after a pair.
One day.

Thanks Martin. The source I use is a self built PC with a few tweaks:
- Low power CPU (I7 6700T) with 8MB cache
- All passive cooling
- All SSD = so there's no pesky moving parts anywhere in there
- Paul Hynes SR7 EHD PSU, with captive, soft annealed silver power leads on four rails (one for each SSD, one for the SOtM USB card and one for the CPU) = no PSU cross talk
- 1R (single sided) DDR4 RAM
- SOtM USB output card, with upgraded clock (an upgrade for the upgrade lol)
- SOtM upgraded clock (replaces one of the clocks on the motherboard)
- It runs 'headless' on SnakeOil OS (Linux, ultra lightweight audio optimised OS - it's excellent)
The PC is in the middle of the second shelf, the PSU is on the left of the bottom shelf.
RE: the speakers, you make a fair point. The only reason they're up there is the little one, there's just nowhere else they can go right now and it's a compromise I'll have to live with for a while.
Everything is hooked up with 6D cables and with the P6 amps in place, the system sounds the best it's ever been. I can't imagine how good it will sound when I can have proper floor-standers back in there

Interesting question Mike, I'd put about 50% of the RDC into the system years ago and completed it recently. I'm glad to report that it's more of what everyone seems to report with it; better overall resolution, better defined and deeper bass, more coherence of sound.
I'm thankful that it didn't tip the scale into super etched detail hell!
The Australian Blackwood rack and isolation platforms really compliment the RDC; I chose it for two reasons, one is it's simply gorgeous (IMO of course) and it's a tone wood, so should be sympathetic to the music. When it wad delivered thing sounded more open, a (very slight) touch warmer and less up-tight. It was one of those things that you're glad improved, even though you didn't notice you had an issue in the first place.

Thanks, I agree; I've been waiting months for these P6s (lack of funds etc) and so had anxiously built up this idea in my head of how they might sound and became worried they could only disappoint.
How wrong I was! And how glad I was to be wrong lol - they're simply the best amps I've heard around this price point and don't see myself lusting after anything else.
Only speakers and mains conditioner (upgrade) to go and I think I'm set for some time.

Great news. I like the rack a lot from someone who always chooses black. Looks very 'woody' What feet does the rack sit on ? Your pics also make me think of having pictures on my back wall

Glad they are doing the business, they are rather good aren’t they?

Thanks Mike. The whole rack sits on a pair of Stillpoints Ultra SS footers, with M8 thread. You'll be happy to know I sprayed these black As you can see, I like black components too. I've also matched all of the LEDs to be blue.
The pictures are all from my partner, she's amazing with a camera (That's Scotland on the left) and paintbrush alike. Wherever we settle I'll get her art custom printed onto acoustic treatments.

They're exceptionally good amps and I'm very proud to own them. I can't wait to hook up some 'proper' speakers to them in time.

Assumed RDC cones would be overwhelmed on weight. Black of course is perfect Pics are very nicely done as well as the cable dressing I now notice The art is very good. I will have a look around at what we have to place on our wall. Maybe an item from the boss herself.....

25kg per cone so you should be safe with 6, 150kg..... ? Bet typical German efficiency gives plenty more.
Martin J might be pushing too far with 4 though What do you think Martin, worth a bash ?

Yeah, can’t imagine anyone being unhappy with them, they really do combine the best of valves and SS.

To clarify, the feet at the bottom of the rack are Stillpoints Ultra SS footers, they have a capacity of 226KG each, so they're absolutely up to the task. I'd be too scared the RDC cones would split under all of the weight if placed at the bottom of the rack!

Ushers are sold, Quadral Galan 9 and 6D jumpers are paid for.
I’m travelling to Manila for business for two weeks, so hopefully I’ll have a big box awaiting my return 😊
As usual, Tony has been a pleasure to deal with.

Excellent. I've heard Quadrals but I'm not sure which model they were. Bet you're looking forward to plumbing them in.

Excellent. I've heard Quadrals but I'm not sure which model they were. Bet you're looking forward to plumbing them in. Yeah I heard a Quadral model a few years ago and they weren’t the premium range - I liked what I heard. Of course there’s the apprehension of buying ‘blind’, but my spider senses have served me well thus far. Tbh I am excited to improve my speakers, this will allow the high level system I’ve built (behind them) to show more of what it’s capable of. It’ll be interesting to compare the 6D jumpers to the stock jumpers. The 6Ds are brand new so will take some running in though.
