Currently with Plusnet, for years, who are pretty good.
Always cheaper deals around, not necessarily good suppliers
Plusnet quoted £35 fixed for 24 months Broadband unlimited, Phone line and all phone calls inclusive
Now Broadband £25 per month Seem to be a few gotchas with them.
TalkTalk but won't touch them with bargepole £30
SSE - have a poor customer service if I remember right £31
Shell (was First Utility) £32
Don't want a TV package unless it is free and will remain so

Zen Internet have an enviable reputation. I use both them and Demon / Vodafone at home and work. Zen have much better technical and customer support and, if I wanted to use just one provider that's where I'd go.

Zen always recommended, for many years, never the best price <checks> Hang on £30 a month !? This needs investigating Also been wondering about mobile taking over the calls only for what is probably less money

I've just left BT and gone back to Talktalk who I've never had any issues with.
£24.50 a month for 50mb connection including line rental and no connection fee, with a £60 cashback from Talktalk which makes it £19.50 a month.
Been with Talktalk in the past without issue so figured I might as well save some cash over BT that had risen to £37 per month 😉

Was EE at £25/month or so for a year. Then Sky for 1 year for £27/month. They wanted to 'walk' the premium to £39! Got on to customer services, said I'd leave if not given a better deal. By that point we never used the landline. Mobiles only (ID mobile at £5 a month for 300mins etc), They got it down to £15 a month for fibre 38Mb/s. Quite fast enough for us. After a year they upped it to £17 this Feb. I didn't argue with that. It is a 13% increase though! If they try to walk it similarly again next year, I shall be on to them.
Sky is a more reliable connection (absolutely bullet proof) than EE was, but that could be better equipment evolution as greater use of internet for streaming and TV etc places improvement demands.
Pays to negotiate.

Maybe not enough ths time

Yes, you have a line but you don't have to buy any of their package deals and they can put you on a higher tarriff if you ever had too use the landline. We don't even have the phone plugged in, we have an old non-radio phone ready in case of emergencies and the mobile network was out..
Making it clear to Sky we would not be using the phone knocked a lot off

Sooner or later some Muppet would use the landline and cost. Might even be me !
I've also got a thing about Sky Murdoch based or from what I have heard how they ramp up the monthly payments. Unsavoury

Sky and BT are both playing that game.

They all do to a degree. Plusnet let the monthly creep up by £1 every few months. Come renewal they offer cheaper Sky take it too far from what I have heard. Steve reinforces that above

Demon as an ISP will cease to exist from 6 May and then it will be Vodafone from then on ( a succession of Thus, AT&T and now Vodafone have succeeded in destroying what was once a fabulous company - what a shame). At work we have Zen and Demon and I have agreed a transition to Vodafone from Demon. So far nothing has actually gone wrong, but the Vodafone sales / transition team and their technical people clearly do not speak! I'm expecting issues as our requirements are quite complex compared to many, but not extreme by any means. At least we have Zen for backup. At home I have the same, although I will almost certainly not transition from Demon to Vodafone and will probably take a second offering from Zen instead.

At work I brought in Exponential-e after a very poor service from Virgin. We have a 300Mbps dedicated leased line and the support from Exponential-e has been quite superb. We have had virtually zero down-time over the last 5 years. Would that I could have such a line at home but unfortunately we pay £800/mo for it!

Excellent price How are they to deal with ? I find it difficult to bring myself to trust them Sky were fine for the first year. It was same price as other. Then the price walk, but once I got through to customer retention they wanted to keep me.. No hassle since then.

Must try to consider them
Openreach do the line still ?

Yes all backbone is Open Reach isn't it? Interestingly when we moved, new build, we went with EE. Our neighbours went BT. Our connection done with Open Reach was 6 weeks faster than the all BT / Open Reach install for them. I believe Open Reach is now separate from BT (competitions thing)?

Our connection done with Open Reach was 6 weeks faster than the all BT / Open Reach install for them. I believe Open Reach is now separate from BT (competitions thing)? Openreach (correct spelling) have been a separate company from inception, and although they're one of the BT group of companies, have never been permitted to prioritise BT customers over any other service provider.
Some service providers get better service provision than others (Zen spring to mind here), but will be paying more for the wholesale price in exchange for superior support and backup. Having done a fair bit of work for a Zen partner company, I can tell you that shit happens very quickly when a fault gets reported.
If you aren't aware, EE is owned by BT. EE might also pay more for support and backup.
And last, no, the backbone is not all Openreach.

When we moved BT did not own EE.. Perhaps EE did pay more?
I'm not really a fan of BT. My perception is over priced and live off inertia customers.

I'm more impressed with the SIM-only deals we get with BT Mobile (=EE) as a result of having Infinity.
