Sorry guys, missed this. No progress with the amps, been too busy. I have bought some fans, choice was a bit limited as I wanted to go with 240v ones so I didn’t have to worry about finding a supply for them. Had them delivered but not done anything yet. A bigger problem is HT is too high. Need to get them back on the bench and take some readings, but I’m getting around 380v at the output fuses and it should be 315v, so most likely I will need to order another pair of transformers. Don’t want to run the amps as the 300b’s will be getting caned at those voltages.

It isn’t lol. Me being me, I bought some more speakers- Bastanis open baffles. Have been playing around with these and have rewired them and fitted some foo resistors and cap for the crossover such as it is. These have a 12” wideband that I think is an Eminence unit. This is run wide open- no crossover, just a resistor in parallel, and is doped to improve high frequency response. The tweeter is a compression type, run with a 1uf cap in series for a simple 1st order crossover around 10k. There is also a resistor in series to pad it down to the widebander, and fed through an adjustable L pad so level can be tweaked to taste/room. Bass is run through a Goldwood 18” driver run from a Behringer amp with DSP, I’m using 2nd order at 200hz. These are around 100db efficient so should be a great match with the OTL’s if I ever get them finished lol.

Mr. Wobblechops - what say you about these amps?

They are still in the same state, I haven’t touched them. They are currently at my ex’s place, won’t be able to get them until all this is over.

I am currently using a Son Of Beast though, which is very good.

I agree, I have a scratch built SOB as well. Tubes and Circuits book has the project if there are any builders out there...
DEAD SILENT is an understatement as to how quiet the Son of the Beast really is...when I first fired mine up I thought something was wrong until sweet music started playing out of the dead of silence. I'm real curious how the Beast Jr topology is different to drive 8 tubes per channel with only an ECC83 input stage and ECC99 driver stage. 40W of OTL must be magic.
sorry to hear about the split, that is very tough...
