Not much - we took £30 for a dressing table and two bedside cabinets. Just need the space, like you. That took two trips but the buyer was happy. Martin do you have a local Facebook group that buys/sells items- we have here ( Hornchurch, Essex) and have good results so far, buyer arrives quickly, no haggling ( thus far.)

Or find a local charity organisation who would be grateful for serviceable furniture, and will collect? Do you know, some charity shops are beginning to really annoy me. Rather than being grateful, they act as if I'm inconveniencing them or even outright don't want stuff if they have enough already. I took a whole box of DVDs to a second place after the first refused. The same with books. Yes found this also- like they are doing you a favour- however found an indie charity shop that appreciate folk bringing stuff.

Do you know, I've never tried. We've had mostly success with Gumtree but some of the people who 'definitely want it' and then don't turn up, without even a courtesy call, bemuse me.

Generally speaking I have found Gumtree to be a frickin' nightmare of Trumpian proportions, so don't advertise at all on there any more.

Yes, l have had on other forums ( on items l am selling) say to me " can l pick the item up tomorrow"- tomorrow comes you get in contact with the buyer ( whom has not turned up) and they deny all knowledge of saying they will purchase the said item.=- very odd.
The best l had was selling a pair of very large floorstanders - the chap who come to buy them loved them and said " they are bigger than l thought they were going to be can l give you a £50 deposit and l will return tomorrow in a van."
Tomorrow came and l never heard from the chap again despite trying o contact him.

Turned another mental corner as I become more like a normal person and not a hoarder of anything and everything. Looked around and saw things I really shouldn't keep so they will go Amongst them 3 Nobo boards. Medium, Big and Monster. Not used since I brought them home in 2016 and never will be Glad to say step daughter's school will have them

Loads went yesterday on Freecycle
Old but serviceable Heuga carpet tiles, carpet offcuts about 30cm wide up to 3 metres long - at least 5 or 6 people each after them. They were almost binned as I didn't think anyone owuld want them A room or two's carpet underlay
Speakers from my first not so hifi being commercial braodcast speakers which I got around 1969 ! moved 5 ? times and never used - why ? I couldn't bear to throw stuff away.
Normality beckons. Minimalism a possibility ?
Easier to get a skip I know but it makes me feel better to *not* have it going into landfill. Helps punters out too

Great little bonuses keep popping up as the sorting continues Last week a much tidier shed. Now much easier to get in and out, find the tools and stuff needed. Bin filled and around 2 more bins full to add. Remembered one of the reasons we have so much is taking on a load of stuff when the boss's dad died.
Finding things to put with their brothers and sisters very useful.
Freecycle and selling hifi cables etc on hold currently

Been sorting out food for a few months and finding all sorts in all sorts of places. Doesn't help when the kids come down, bring stuff, leave the remnants, make meals, put stuff back somewhere else but we have so much of so much Lost count of the pasta, half of it opened.
Today we are working through the kitchen together Half way through and looking forward to it being done when there will be clarity. Staggered at what there is. Must have years worth of certain items like canned tomatoes, baked beans. Use by dates of years ago
We do *not* need storage. We need to use or lose

Rarely use the cars at the moment so took them around the block The boss's barely started - charge the battery then
Charger not working. There goes that idea. Been fine for years.
Fuse a good place to start
Plug apart. Ow. Dead thin cable, no cable grip, exposed blue and brown coverings on display. Blue disconnected. Therefore no juice. Bolt for the brown not at all tight
Puzzled why I did this. Not like me at all Hang on. This was brought to the household by the boss herself
Plug for the bin, re terminate.
Courtesy of previous sorting 2 excellent MK toughplugs available.

Nice one. Being able to correctly wire a plug seems to be a lost art for the younger generations.

When I see accidents waiting to happen like that I must sort them immediately A good job jobbed. By the way. Believe it or not my wire stripping skills are very good

For the last two years I've been threatening to put loads of things, both, hifi and guitars, on eBay but so far I haven't even got around to photographing them. Me too!- Never get round to it always listening to music.

I have little bursts - like the AudioQuest cables I'm selling right now. Paul, why aren't you biting?!

Potential problems added to my list and sorted.
Gulleys checked and cleared of small amount of leaves. Last time of the year for that.
Outside taps turned off and lagged - too late for comfort !

Currently down to only <cough> 36 There are people at work like that. They complain about their machines running like treacle and giving low memory warnings. They frequently have 15 or more applications running and any number of open browser tabs. They wonder why I laugh out loud.
