We've been selling furniture on gumtree. The number of people wanting an item and promising to come but being no-shows is astonishing. It's a revelation when someone comes, pays the money without further bargaining, and brings transport so that the items actually fit in. Haven't tried Gumtree Furniture can go for peanuts. What sort of money are you getting ?

Not much - we took £30 for a dressing table and two bedside cabinets. Just need the space, like you.
That took two trips but the buyer was happy.

Guessed as much.
Takes so much time and energy sometimes even Mr.Save-the-planet-Mike wonders if I should just take it down the tip. Or get a skip in as suggested by Stepson

Or find a local charity organisation who would be grateful for serviceable furniture, and will collect?

Or find a local charity organisation who would be grateful for serviceable furniture, and will collect? Do you know, some charity shops are beginning to really annoy me. Rather than being grateful, they act as if I'm inconveniencing them or even outright don't want stuff if they have enough already. I took a whole box of DVDs to a second place after the first refused. The same with books.

You could try Googling "furniture charity Basingstoke" and if there are any promising ones give them a ring and ask if they collect. We did that when we had a clearout some years ago. There was one almost on our doorstep, and they were very pleased.

Or find a local charity organisation who would be grateful for serviceable furniture, and will collect? Not much furniture. Although that may follow as we focus on what is left

Thanks, Mike. Not quite on my route to anywhere. The British Heart Foundation in Basingstoke are pretty good and don't behave as if they're doing me a favour.

Good to be able to help and bonus for me I now have a shed with space - to let me sort more stuff out.

I decluttered my record collection down to two framed LPs. Now I'm building two IKEA shelf arrays to sort out my music books properly.

Still working on my
"must hang onto that it could be useful"
Is it normal to fill space you have with loads of stuff, just in case ?
Could do with a very large room to put it all in to sort

Get a big skip. It's very therapeutic.

Can't do that. More than one skip anyway There are people that would be very happy to have the stuff we have This afternoon might see a currently unused table and 6 chairs go. Had a hard look at them earlier. No point keeping, has to go
