Three not as good as EE ? We need to be switched on to these crazy things with different/same organisations That was a decision about knowing that BT/EE works faultlessly in the music room at the position the router is in, and wanting to keep the signal/infrastructure exactly the same.

If you have my way with tech that would definitely be true

I believe you have exerted an influence, Mike!
I received the EE SIM yesterday and duly plugged it into the router. Nothing, no activation, no signal. Checking the GUI I saw it reporting no SIM. Ok, pulled the SIM, cleaned the contacts, replaced and this time it reported SIM ready. Good, let's give it time to activate. Went back hours later and no joy. Put the BT SIM back in, fired up and played music immediately.
So it's off to the EE shop today to see what gives. I have printouts so we'll see what they say.

The EE shop found the SIM to be inactivated and there were no records in their system of the transaction. They couldn't understand how the warehouse had sent an unregistered SIM to me and were on the phone for ages trying to sort it out for me. Are you sure you weren't there, MikeMusic ?

I have now cancelled so that I can start again. The guy on the phone said the same things to me about the account not being setup correctly, the SIM would never activate, etc. So BT really cocked up. Perhaps it's as well they're leaving things to EE to handle.

Ok, new EE PAYG SIM activated (you have to put it in a phone, the good chaps at the EE store advised me). I can now take it to the music room and put it in the router. I have also used the PAC code to transfer the number - which is pointless for a router but it will automatically cease my BT account. Next is to use up the data (they gave me 50GB as an intro offer for £20) then phone EE and convert it to a monthly contract.
You have to have patience with these service providers. They have systems from the dark ages, everything takes 2 days to complete and their mobile app is a prime example of how not to write an app. You wouldn't think they're experts in mobile technology, would you?
Ruth's experience with Three was exactly the same, so they all need to do better.
EDIT: my 5G reception at work is good and the speed is outrageous. So their actual mast tech and infrastructure is fine.

...and it works, now streaming on EE with 75% signal strength. All is well.

Day one of my new broadband deal and Huawei B535 333 router Yesterday I moved fast after ringing our local Three shop Yes, we have a 4G+ mast near us. Good deal which you can only get going into a Three shop as MartinT did Counterintuitive until you work out the shops are on commission. Perhaps the web site and ringing the central number don't offer the same <later> very similar deals on the website Fine going brand new. More work to cease the old one and swap to new Coincidence perhaps the download speeds were well down yesterday. The soon to be replaced ZTE router 15Mbps Connected the new B335 today and initially slower After a power off and using the Zero Zone to supply 12V it is now 4Mbps in the same physical position the ZTE was in Perhaps it needs a while to settle in Tomorrow I'll try it in different places and with the external aerials Will also plug the ZTE back in and test speeds on that too

Daughter in central Bournemouth could never get more than 12Meg download and about 1Meg upload, max out of 3.
Plusnet landline she's with now gives 96Meg down, 25Meg up.

Not a brilliant start, Mike (did they get advanced information about you?), but hopefully it'll speed up.
My experience is that 4G+ is considerably faster than 4G, and in exactly the same position by the window.

I think it depends very much where you live and the contention / competition factor

I think it depends very much where you live and the contention / competition factor Contention being the prime culprit with increasing numbers of users, it seems.

Confirmed we 4G+ was available Day or so before we had well over 30Mbps with the old ZTE

Did you get a new 4G+ capable SIM to put in the Huawei?

New SIM, assume 4G+ Nothing to say so though Is there a way to tell ?

Not directly, but maybe via the Huawei. Try browsing to it and see what it says in the status page. <checks my Sercomm hub> mine says the hub and firmware are 4G+ but doesn't confirm the connection type.
