Change of plan
The old router still works a lot better than the new one I'm cancelling the new one
Spent an age talking to Three on chat and then the phone eventually They say I have to go into the Woking shop to cancel Ring them Rings, then cuts off
What fun
Plus we don't currently have a car...
Advice for the future when ordering, upgrading - do it online unless you pass the shop regularly
Plus the advice from the shop was wrong 4G+ is not available Matey did not cancel the old contract

Damn, not having 4G+ does explain why the new router performed so poorly.

Even rang them but he was with a customer when I rang. Only went to Woking as they said I could have 4G+ Would try swapping the SIMs but they are a different size Very small and tiny

Update on my new router and Three
Asked to cancel with them online as it doesn't work You have to go to the shop
Yesterday Go to the shop (Can't ring them as their phone line is out !) You have to cancel online.
Today Online After lodging a complaint and being shuffled from one punter to another. You have to go to the shop. Explained for the nth time they told me to go online Told me to fill in a complaint form which I did. Not helpful
Buying online gives you greater protection than in a shop if it goes wrong Disappointing
Three are a sales organisation that say the right things about support and customer care but revert to type when pressed. Cancelling a contract is not a thing they like to do

Daughter bought online and cancelled her contract within the grace period. Took one phone call, she was transferred once. I was there as support, but not required. They cancelled and sent the FOC post back bag. After she'd sent it back, within the time they had agreed, the contract was confirmed cancelled and all monies credited back.
Pretty good really!
Shop vs online - very poor if they are not the same deal..

What a frikn nightmare Mike! Do you have a Plan B in hand? Complaint form may give the result I need if read by a sensible punter. Write a short story in the style of Kafka perhaps Lots of publicity for Three Ironic when you hear the great service Martin had from Basingstoke Replace the SIM ? Bloke in the shop said it couldn't be the SIM Also insisted 'the map' said I could get 4G+ whereas one of the online support said the map says I can't get 4G.

I feel bad, but you are always going to judge based on the personnel who assist you. Sounds like you got some real jobsworths.
If you couldn't get 4G it would be using 3G and that would be giving you the very poor speeds you're seeing. I do wonder if you're just not getting any decent mobile coverage from any of the providers.

I've just done a comparative speedtest on my two services:
EE 4G (music room): 20.2Mbps (get up to 35) Three 4G+ (house): 155.4Mbps (get up to 205)
Both giving what we need for music streaming and simultaneous UHD streaming respectively.

I was pretty happy with 10 - 15 download. There was the odd problem Around a week before I tried the new router we had Speedtest at nearly 40 Seemed a no brainer to get 4G+, new router, much higher speed, slightly less monthly payment, just didn't turn out
