I forgot to say, I’ll be paying the balance for my first monobloc amps soon too - the longdog p6. Then all I have to do is await shipment to the other side of the world lol. I’m excited for them though I must say - several people have said they’re the best amps they’ve ever heard. They certainly are. Interesting you mention Kerr Acoustics earlier in the thread, last time I helped Nick out at a show we used Jes’ bookshelf speakers on the end of the P6’s. Great sounding speakers, and Jes is a great bloke too. Only 24 and already producing really good sounding speakers. I was impressed, one of the few box speakers I’d happily live with.

Hey mate, Yeah I’m particularly interested in the Kerrs, but they’re currently a way away from being affordable to me. One step at a time! Jes has great customer service, in that he took the time to comprehensively answer several very detailed emails from me. Have you picked up your new speakers yet?

Which ones lol. Have the ones Colin made me, also recently picked up a pair of Zingali Overture 2’s which work very nicely with the OTL amp, as well as looking rather nice. Decent bass for a stand mounter too. They seem to be quite under the radar, I’d like to hear some of the floorstanders which are even more efficient.

Last time we spoke you weren’t able to pick up the Colin made pair due to work. I’m interested to know how they worked out?

Yeah they are good, but sadly dont work as well with the OTL’s as the Zingalis I have. That might change with the Pinnacle as it has more power.

I'm not feeling the need for major changes atm, very happy and a bit wary of change just for the sake of it. -- yes, this really is me. Very conscious that I nearly made a major boo-boo when I 'upgraded' the valves in my Herron pre. ... I nearly sold it before realising that the pre's magic was dependent on the stock EH valves. I might try some gold pin EH in 2019. -- I contacted Keith Herron and he said he saw no need for gold pin EH, so sometime this year I'll get a fresh set of steel pin EHA couple of bits are on the way from China - a linear PSU for my W4S reclocker, and a grounding box as I have been intrigued by the very positive comments on these devices by a couple of TASers. - linear PSU for my W4S USB reclocker arrived and working well, everything a bit more focussed and naturally relaxed.
- cheapo Chinese grounding box did a no-show, they are sending another. But following continued rave reviews for the boxes, I have just placed an order for a SGS Sig grounding box.
Might also invest in the top of the range W&M speaker cables as I really like the cheaper ones already in my system. - yup, bought them. Very pleased. Passed the old ones on to Jules - you tried them yet, Jules?Perhaps 2019 will be a year of consolidation, making the best of a system that already hits the spot. - well, apart from a new DAC (Chord Hugo) I've so far been sticking to The Plan. But it's only mid Feb and I've pretty much done The Plan for this year. Hmmm, not sure I will be happy with no more changes .... Interesting to review progress so far - see above.

Very little, if anything, in 2019. I'm extremely happy with how it sounds. In Jerry-style, reviewing this I have actually bought a major component - the LKS DAC. That's it for this year and I'm exceedingly happy with it. There will now follow the usual tweakery, like moving my streamer from S/PDIF to I 2S, optimising cables etc. However, the big change has been simplification. My SACD player has gone and my turntable is in the cupboard. Streaming is now my only source. The system is simpler and, I think, sounds better for it. Looks nice and neat on a single rack, too.

Hi Martin
The dac is a new design I have been working on for a while, so far listening tests have been very positive. I would suggest anther 6 weeks before finial casework variants will be available.
Speakers are the new TAD E1-TX's which are a medium floor standing version of the ME-1's you listened to on your last visit.

P6 monos are out for delivery!
I feel like an excited kid before Christmas; I realise I’ve been without hifi for three months! I’ve missed my music.
Now I just hope I like them, this is my biggest purchase in hifi and I’ve bought blind.

They’re here! After an agonising three month wait, I can already say I was vindicated to sell and risk buying these blind.
I can’t beleive how much better they are than the Magtech. I didn’t predict they could make old Magtech sound dull, vague and... dare I say it? Weak.
It’s really interesting because they’re lass than half the power of the Magtech (200 watts vs 500) but are so much more immediate and involving.
The bass is so much better integrated and defined as well. What’s really interesting to me is the sound seems to swell out of nowhere, as opposed to being ‘forced’ at me, I wasn’t looking out for this or expecting it, but there we go.
The 20 watt class A bias and insane current delivery (90 or so amps Nick told me) really count for something.
A genuine couple of steps up.
