The designs are pretty solid, Rozenblit knows what he is doing. Been using a Mini Beast I built for the last couple of years with no issues at all, great sounding amp, however I heard a modded Pinnacle at a previous Owston which is by some way the best sounding amp I've ever heard. I'm hoping with the mods I'll be doing I'll get close to that. If so I'll be very happy. The caveat of course is you need suitable speakers. And of course there is the cost of eight 300b's lol. Eight??? Ouch! Sounds an absolute beast.

Hi Tim You are getting an Everyman in Cardiff soon by the time you are back I reckon I did not know that
The not so good news is I just Googled it and it's not until the Autumn and I plan to move next year, so that's a bummer - would have really loved that. It's only going to be 35 minutes walk away or 10 minutes on a cycle. I often walk to Cardiff Bay or use a Nextbike. That would have been brilliant . . .

The only thing that I'm thinking of at the moment is a new phono stage. The idea of retiring the PC and getting a dedicated network streamer like the sotm is still somewhere in the back of my mind, but right now I find I'm more occupied with the analogue side of things.

Not sure yet, if I find the dough, I might complete the Coherent 5D loom, by buying a couple of power cables for my amp and streamer. Getting the streamer updated at some point this month which was my Christmas present from wifey and may further into supports and earthing.

Very little, if anything, in 2019. I'm extremely happy with how it sounds. I may have to amend this since I took the decision to sell the Ayre.

Are you keeping a backup disc spinner for Internet outages, Martin? edit - OK, just saw your blog post. Selling your turntable as well?

Turntable? I'm not there yet, but I haven't been using it either. There's a lot tied up in the Aurorasound VIDA phono amp as well.

I'm definitely keeping my analogue gear. Took me so long to get it to where it is now. I'm going to keep the record collection but think it's very unlikely I'll buy anymore vinyl. Visiting record shops was always fun but I won't miss the pitfalls of buying vinyl online one little bit.
I will finish selling gear that is surplus to requirements now - SUT, preamp and speakers all need to go in the New Year.

Reading both Martin's and Mike's experiences with signal grounding, I will be investigating this seriously in the coming weeks/months!

I can't justify it but I'm gonna do it anyway - I'm gonna commission an amp. Looking to spend about £1500 and I'm thinking custom built transformers and GU50 valves. MIGHT get a DAC too, depending how overtime shapes up through the year.

Have you got any particular DACs in mind Chris?

Ok for an amp I'm looking at Wavebourn - YouTube it. There's also a South African guy who builds his own OPTs and amps that seem rather good.
As for DACs not sure. My wee Chromecast Audio is doing rather well so I might stick with that. It's got to work with iPad too so not sure which ones do. I'd probably go for a Caiman from S Beresford based on what I've read here.
