Yep that was a cock up of the highest order. Think Hulkenberg and maybe Stroll will be thrown under the bus for that one.

That was daft! But understandable. 0.5sec tow is huge! Spectacle negated.. Le Clerc, Hammy and Botas happy enough.

Stroll, Hulkenberg and Sainz have received reprimands.

That was a nice win for Leclerc but he certainly moved when Hamilton was trying to overtake him.
One thing was driven home today: Hamilton is a fighter until he can't fight anymore (when his tyres went off). Bottas isn't even close and made little attempt to reach Leclerc. Therefore, Bottas will only ever be a wingman. To cap it all, when interviewed Bottas said he'd lost the win. He never HAD the win at any time during the race!

How long before Vettel is deselected? Woeful from him!

Yes, Vettel didn't cover himself with glory yesterday.

Vettel is a spent force. He has had the Hamilton treatment that we saw with Rosberg and I really wouldn't be surprised if he retired very soon.
For me, Lewis is still top dog for now, but I can seriously see Le Clerc, Verstappen and Albon significantly biting at his heels. Also, give Sainz, Norris and Russell better/top machinery and we will see them right up there too.
Bottas showed again in Italy that he is fast but just doesn't have the racing pedigree to challenge Lewis.

Agreed, and I don't think Bottas will improve. The jury is out on Gasly.
Leclerc and Verstappen are the real deal; Albon, Norris, Russell and Sainz are just behind. If their cars improve (and Russell gets a better drive), it's making for some tasty seasons ahead of us.

Very impressive pole from Leclerc today and to Ferrari for pulling out something special in the upgrade of their car.
Hamilton not too far behind in second, and Vettel looked tasty on his first Q3 run, but screwed up his second. Red Bull are a lot further off than I was expecting!
Leclerc is looking seriously good at the moment!

Tomorrow is going to be an excellent race. I shall miss it as I'm going to the Audio Show.

I found that 'race' pretty boring tbh. In fairness to it I fell asleep before the 'strategy' part that decided it all and woke up to a few silly moves by also rans, and nothing exciting from restarts. The spectacle and tech are not doing it for me anymore.

Yes, it certainly wasn't up to the previous two. They were exciting, this one was a waiting game. It paid off for Ferrari but not for Mercedes or Red Bull, although the latter at least got 3rd. The tactics were interesting, though, and it certainly wasn't a predictable outcome.
I still find the technical side, i.e. near 1000bhp from a 1.6 hybrid in a light car, pretty awesome. How the drivers keep it on the track is testament to their skills.

I want electric, 4wd, zero particle emitting rocketships with less emphasis on aero. Or even better remove the shackles and let them use completely variable aero to the max to be able to follow and draught by without the contrived DRS crap.

The contrived DRS exists because they can't follow each other with all the aero and the overheating. Draughting by isn't easy now, even with DRS. Give them free reign on aero and we'll be back to the processions of the Schumacher years.

Give them free reign on aero and we'll be back to the processions of the Schumacher years. Agree but, I was referring to free reign to adjust the amount of aero off to aid overtaking - not just a simple rear wing DRS thing but whole car, and NOT a free reign to add as much aero as they like - hehe bringing back fan cars, dual chassis, active ride and all the other Chapman inventions that were banned - might be fun to observe though:) Obviously would be a challenge to do it safely. Vettel seems to be able to oversteer his car to doom powering out of a corner pretty much wherever as things are but he won't be around to drive the next/next gen of cars

Bring back ground effect some say because it doesn't wreck the airflow for the following car. Naturally you'd need smaller wings for this to work but that would be fine as the aero is due majorly to the ground effect.
