Leclerc keeps getting more consistent and deservedly won pole today. Hamilton really pulled one out of the bag to split the fast Ferraris and get 2nd. Sainz again got 6th, which is great after the torrid time McLaren have had this weekend.

Yeah nice qually by Lec. Vet exposed, 0.425s behind. That's the equivalent of fathering 4 children in old money!
Ham pulled out a good one considering.

Astonishing win by Hamilton and a 1-2 for Mercedes against the odds. The qualy strategy call to start the race on the mediums was a class decision and gave Mercedes more options. I feel for Vettel who was winning the race before his engine failed. Hamilton is edging ever closer to that sixth world title now. Really pleased for McLaren who are starting to look like a racing team again. Albon did well to come from the back and finish just behind Verstappen.

Yeah Ferrari snatched defeat (3rd) from the jaws of victory. Another pitlane / SC pass (Ferrari which foot should you shoot yourself in?).. 😴 Credit to LH for getting fastest lap. Did not see that one being possible.
Sharp question (trust) for Lec from former racer Paul Derista - yeah remember him..
Thankfully no eff'in Vettel finger insight today 😋

I'm finding Leclerc to be a bit of a whiner. I do hope he stops that as it spoils appreciation of his racecraft.

I'm amazed that both Vettel and Leclerc got off so lightly for their offences. You could see how powerful the Ferrari package was when Hamilton got close to Vettel at the end. 10% rear tyres left was pretty telling that he had little to no chance of getting past. Credit to Bottas for getting the win. Very pleased to see Sainz continue to do well - people forget that he matched Verstappen when they were in the same team together.

Ferrari International Assistance in evidence again.. Tolerances and "all that"Still Merc would be burying them even earlier if this didn't go on. That's not in the circus’s interest. Verstapen is right to, and will voice - until he's in a Ferrari FIA having trouble counting A lap too little

Very interesting for me to read about Mercedes employing marginal gains and constantly looking to improve. If teams and companies are not doing this look out

That was a good race. Bottas did well, although I felt he got a little bit of help from Mercedes. What I couldn't quite understand is why Lewis couldn't seem to get past Vettel. I guess some of it is that he is aware there is a championship up for stakes, so wouldn't have wanted to get entangled in an accident.
Leclerc balls up and continued to moan. I think he will be really good once he has calmed down a bit. At the moment he is a bit like Max was a couple of years ago, and still is on occasions.

That was a superbly controlled and hard-won victory for Hamilton, against all the odds and expectations. The state of the right-hand side of his car at the end rams home how tough that battle with Verstappen was and how Hamilton stands up to his bullying tactics.
So Hamilton won today but the championship is not yet his. Very close to it, though.
I felt sorry for McLaren who looked to have a good points haul and then saw their chances just melt away.

Verstappen normally uses his front wing to try to puncture the tyre of the car he is trying to force his way past. On this occasion he missed the tyre of Hamilton. But it backfired on him when he passed Botham. It was the front wing of Bottas that took out Verstappen with a tyre puncture.
McLaren are no worse than usual. Hamilton lost a championship more than ten years ago due to failures are Mclaren of a similar nature. And Button experienced the same.

That was an excellent race yesterday. Lewis did a phenomenal job of both keeping Vettel and Bottas behind him but equally taking on the petulance of Max.
I would agree entirely with Martin Brundle that Lewis is still the King of F1 at the moment and nobody (including Vettel, Bottas, Verstappen and LeClearc) are on his level.
If Max can reduce the number of forced errors I could see him up there, but from what we have seen this year, I think LeClearc will be the next in line to Lewis rather than him.
Anyone upon anyone that says it is just the car with Lewis is living in cloud cuckoo land quite simply, he had a damaged car and still managed to out manoeuvre and beat the rest of the field!

He did very well stretching the life of those hard tyres and keeping Max at bay at the end. Got to give him credit for becoming the king of life from his tyres.

Nice champ win for Hammy.
Would have been 7th but for a pit lane gravel trap in China (now tarmac of course).
Vettel once again woeful. Time to retire..
Looks like Merc Vs Red Bull for future championships. Ferrari too inconsistent with a variety of mistakes over a season.

I suspect Ferrari were cheating with oil or water injection into the cylinders from either a deliberate turbo oil leak or intercooler water leak. It's hard to account for their sudden power boost in the 2nd half of the season followed by a lack of power again as soon as the FIA released their explanation of the directive on fuel supply.

Vettel a spent force! Nice comparison of him wiping out Weber moving across him to contact and exactly the same to Le Clerc last time out.
Seems he/Ferrari also stuffed Le Clerc"s second run timing in Q3 - Le Clerc claimed from the cockpit anyway.. should have overtaken Vettel and stuffed him. Ferrari can't do anything right..
Merc back on the pace in qually.
Nice speculation that if Lewis gets 7, Toto saying yes we have to stay together for record 8 shot.. Long way off but nice to hear. Lewis saying he'll stay at Merc if Toto does.
