Claire once dismissed the idea of becoming a 2nd team for Mercedes.

Interesting race.
Fastest lap point spiced things up right to the end. Perhaps they should give them 2, 3 or more points for it?..
Honda seemingly suddenly getting their act together. Of course it's been building but it was as if a switch was flicked, performance wise. Guess the car was the switch.
Ferrari still meh! Webber suspected tyres.
Williams, double, triple, quadruple meh.
They'll only be in motorsport making Formula E batteries soon Martin.. unless..

Good win for Bottas with a superb start. I knew the Honda engine would come good. Bad luck for both Ricciardo and Sainz. What's happened to Ferrari's pace?
Apparently Hamilton had floor damage. But where and how did he get it?

But where and how did he get it? The debris from the Riciardo / Kubica nose? They all seemed to run over it the same though.

Good start to the season and we’ll deserved win by Bottas. Not surprised that Lewis had an issue. Bottas did a good job, but there’s no way under normal circumstances that he’d be 20 seconds up the road from Lews.
Stroll ahead of Perez in both qualifying and the race, what’s the world coming to hehe.
Russell soundly thrashed Kubica, why oh why did he come back??

Leclerc gets his first pole, well that didn't take long.
The Ferraris have their speed back. Race pace is an unknown and we'll have to see if Mercedes can match them. Red Bull are strangely off the pace today.
Pleased for Sainz starting from 7th. The McLarens did well today, getting both cars into Q3.

Better from Ferrari. "Killing them on straight line speed!" FIA gave then a few more Kilowatts at the swipe of a setting to keep things competitive? I'm such a cynic Keeps it close I guess.

Gutted for Leclerc but Hamilton was there to pick up the win. Exciting race.
Renault has some serious question marks over its package now. Has their power unit moved into 4th place?
Upset for Sainz who had the makings of a great race until Verstappen did his usual.
It was good seeing Raikonnen drive so well in the Alfa.

Great race today, Lewis was there to pick up the pieces from the unfortunate Leclerc, but he will be back and i'd even go as far to say he is more likely to be Ferrari's next World Champion, than Vettel who appears to have lost it altogether. Another spin under pressure!!
Bottas may still leading the championship, but Lewis showed him who was boss today. Mercedes have some way to match the power of Ferrari. But as we know, reliability out does performance every time.
Verstappen was up to his usual tricks with Sainz. Someone has to bring him down a peg or two!

Perhaps Jean Todt fell asleep with his FIA (Ferrari International Assistance) tablet, and as it slid off his lap his finger swiped away at all those extra ponies and more! He woke up too late of course. Sad for Leclerc.

Apparently Leclerc's Ferrari lost a cylinder. The commentators were going on about no battery and no harvesting and I could see his red lights flashing as he approached corners, indicating that he was harvesting perfectly fine.

Excellent qualy from China. The two Mercedes are neck and neck and so are the two Ferraris, albeit three tenths behind. Congrats to Bottas for getting pole, he seems to have woken up this year.
The Renault engined cars are way behind on this ultimate power circuit. Not so the Honda, with Verstappen right up there in the mix at the top.

Yes Bottas was peed off last year and went on a get drunk a few times bender during a week to man up Finnish style. Seems to have helped 'They' did say the Red Bull was slower in a straight line but able to make up for it (almost) in the twisties. My guess is Renault won't make a truly competitive unit this regs round. They could well be hoping to come good in the future, as things enevitably get more and more electric.. but so will everyone else!

Wow that is an impressive statistic.
Lewis and Mercedes were in a league of their own today.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Vettel is done, I don’t see him winning another championship. Ferrari should put all their efforts behind Leclerc!

Ferrari hamstring their young star.. To quote Danny Dyer "you tw@ts!"
Merc first team to win all 3 races and place 2 on all as well, since 1992 - Williams Renault did it back then. Mansell totally dominated then and the 1993 Indy car too! What a time that was.

Very well driven race and Mercedes were on top of their strategy. Leclerc should have been left in place - Ferrari will learn soon enough where their best chances lie.
Kvyat - oh dear. The torpedo hits again.
