Bit of a failed driver he may be, but Jolyon Palmer has written some good analyses for the BBC and this article looking at Ferrari's errors in fighting Mercedes makes some good observations.

George Russell hit a loose drain cover and wrecked FP1 as well as his car. Not good for Williams who have limited spares.

Indeed, Claire Williams is furious about it. They cancelled FP1 in order to reinspect 300 drain covers!

Interesting qually. Bottas' engineer sounding like Waylon Smithers (nuclear powerplant owner in the Simpsons) - "Valteri, you are on pole" - creepy! Sad for "it is I Leclerc" - that's learning experiences for you. Let's see if Lewis can chicken race Vettel into the wall in the race

Excellent qualy. What happened to Gasly, why didn't he take part in Q3?

Ah - answering my own question, fuel flow violation and failing to stop at the weighbridge yesterday.

Another 1-2 for Merc. 4 in row. Not sure that's been done before from the very start of the season.
Lewis will be going Valteri cracks at some point..
It was not an exception GP in any way really. Aero and DRS making it pretty boring.

Indeed, Ferrari could have won all four if they had been as organised and error-free as Mercedes.
Hamilton coming second is fine, it's his consistency that will be telling in the end. Glad to see Sainz getting points at last and Raikkonen continuing to get points with an inferior car.

A new record from Mercedes, nobody has ever started the season with four 1/2s. Good race between Lewis and Bottas yesterday, I recon Lewis would have had him had he not been so nice at the beginning or hadn’t lost so much time under the virtual safety car.
This is the beginning of the season though, and history shows that Lewis gets better as the season continues.
Ferrari are nowhere, I genuinely believe they’ll be writing off this year, that car whilst quick just doesn’t seem to be able to be used to it’s potential.
I recon Red Bull might become Mercedes nearest challenger, as they’ve always had a good car, and that Honda engine is looking tasty.

that Honda engine is looking tasty I knew that Honda would come good. A company like them, with their racing heritage, just doesn't give up.

That was a masterclass in domination from Hamilton today, controlling the race from 2nd on the grid. Verstappen also did very well and that Honda engine is a serious bit of kit now. Did Ferrari make yet another strategy blunder?

Did Ferrari make yet another strategy blunder? Can only agree Martin, superb start and snatch from the off and smoothly done by LH, ever the fighter. I think Bottas is starting to realise that it's the hardest thing to gather up any sort of momentum and beat Hamilton, who never lets up, particularly after he's not nailed pole or won a race. Like a wounded animal he's even more dangerous then

Nice start and restart by Lewis. Didn't put a wheel wrong.
That's 5 consecutive race 1-2s from the seasons start. Unprecedented!
TBH Ferrari watching the championship slide out of view very early on in the season.
Max eyeing the Merc enviously. Not even genius Newey / Red Bull can pen a car / buy or make an engine to match!

I thought that was a good race. Lewis showed Bottas who was boss as I think Martin Brundle said, and Ferrari fell apart in front of our very faces again. Max Verstappen is looking good in that Red Bull.
