Bearing in mind I'm currently using Klotz AC110/Neutrik leads throughout on my second system those Edge cables look worth checking out. Shame they (like so many manufacturers) don't do anything shorter than 0.5m though. I think it's close to a one man band, so drop him a message and I suspect he'll make whatever length you want. The cable is a bit stiff, though, so you might have problems fitting the cable between components. . |

Hmm - something of a surprise this afternoon!  Some time ago when I first set up the digi system I tried my Consonance tube pre with the Tannoys and it sounded god awful ... Now I have the Sonus Fabers in place I have tried it again and it's sounding very promising indeed - just a complete turnaround from before. I will leave it in the system for now and give it an extended work out this week. The only annoying thing is it needs a least an hour warm up to show what it can really do ... |

Well the valve pre didn’t last long!
The Chinese passive has been restored to the system. Minded by the death of Mark Hollis, I’m playing Talk Talk and I’m just hearing much more detail, resolution and transparency, plus firmer bass ...
It’s that fabled ‘clean window’ we are all chasing and it doesn’t need an hour to warm up…
‘It’s my life’ with its thumping drum track is possibly the best I’ve heard my system so far.
Superb remaster.

I'm sort of wavering a bit now that I've stopped being a smart-arse and actually had a bit of a think about it. My first impression was that the D50 wouldn't be good enough, and you'd end up having to upgrade again, so you'd probably bypass that. The D70, which is what I thought you were waiting for, still hasn't been released, which leaves the DX7s, which was going to be my guess. The trouble is, I now know that the DX7 Pro has been seen at shows and must be available very soon so why would you buy the DX7s? I'm rubbish at this guessing stuff, aren't I?  |

I'll be interested to hear your opinion of it. If I were choosing a DAC now it would probably be a choice between the Topping and the SMSL SU-8.
