Tapatalk just rejects the old Volumio forum now.

For no good reason really, except wanting one, I've ordered one of these...

Guys I need some help please.
Couldn't get Volumio working at all today after updates so have burnt a new SD card with updated Volumio and this has gone ok - I can now see volumio.local
I have installed spotify connect and spotify which just leaves one problem - in the general playback options it is not recognising my D70 DAC as previously and doesn't show me USB as a connection.
Any suggestions?

If it doesn't show USB as a connection are you sure the USB cable is ok and the DAC powered up?

Yes all looks fine.
In General Playback Options it's not showing the D70 - there is a loudspeaker symbol next to Audio Output and that's it. In Ouput Device there is no USB option.
I have ethernet cable running to the Tinker and my Mac is using wifi - in the Network settings what should I be choosing there? Do I just have wired network on and wireless network off?

One thing I did is to swap my USB cables round.
I have a split power / signal cable that didn't like going between reclocker and DAC - seems to want the power. That cable is now running between the Tinker S and reclocker and now Volumio is recognising the D70.
Gosh that was a trial of patience!

Glad it is now sorted, Jules. It can take a while fault-finding.

Good stuff. If Volumio can't 'see' the DAC it's nearly always a cable problem.

Way back when, early PC days, I was always puzzled when support asked if I had rebooted.
Didn't take too long to realise that was stage 1 so I did that myself before calling anyone
Speaking to my ace tech support guy Matt one day he told me of his revelation after thinking his own PC's motherboard had gone. He noticed something showing there was still power going in even when turned off ! Unplugged from the mains socket in the wall Plugged back in, turned on and worked

Power lock-out is a common problem, especially if a company has dodgy earth arrangements. Disconnecting the power is different from just shutting down.

I used to think it was a USB connectivity problem but I'm using SPDIF now and it's the same.

I don't get that - The Asus rarely gets rebooted and comes up fine - and fast.
The Android app gets itself into a state sometimes, but I just close and restart it and it picks up from where it left off just fine.

It's not a permanent problem, and to describe it in layman's terms it's almost as if sometimes the first restart "doesn't take."
